We all suspected it but now we know the real reason Google keeps "tweaking" their formula to reach their final goal. The term "Do No Evil" sounds like a pathetic joke these days after the Search Monopoly Google has knocked out 30% (or more) of all websites from the search results. It has become perfectly clear to me that Google has one goal and one goal only = Profit above all else. I mean they are a business after all right? I expect them to want to profit but not to destroy every small business in the process.

Monopolies are Evil and no one will doubt that Google is a Monopoly (except maybe Matt Cunts).
In today's world it is impossible to compete with these monster "Death Star Corporations" that now control each and every sector of the global and local economy. You want to start a store? You can't compete with Wal-Mart. You want to start a coffee shop you can't compete with Starbucks and so on and so on in every industry and every market. The internet really was the last and final frontier where a person could start a business, work hard and maintain some realistic hopes and dreams that you could earn some money. The big companies can afford to roll with the punches each time Google decides they need some more ad revenue while mid-level webmasters run like rats in a wheel waiting for the poison cheese.

I am ranting because out of my 50 sites many of them are worthless now and I can not find the time and effort to test, hope and pray that I can please the "Profit Pimps" at the BIG G. I have read so many articles about this Penguin crap but does anyone have any solid and proven methods of how to recover? Can it be done?

Thanks for listening to my rant and please share any ideas or methods that actually work!

    *Respect

I'm so sick of threads about what Google is doing and what Google wants. You are just another one who is close to give up. Google is a business and they have to increase their profits.

    Man up and adapt.

Yep it's all very annoying. I feel your pain believe me I DO!, but all we can do is adapt and overcome what ever obstacle we're presented with. That's no fun and it sucks but it's actually one of the advantages we have over 'big business'. Being smaller enables us to be more nimble.

Like 'The Most Interesting Man In The World' suggests... stay thirsty my friends AND...

    ADAPT AND OVERCOME!

I stopped relying on Google back in 2009. There is so much greenery outside Google.

Yeah a lot of the time Google leads to increased revenue out of frustration from their changes, BUT that is where we make the money. In the next update, those that can adapt and evolve will make the money in IM. not because we forsake Google but because we use their idiocy against them. Finally, it only comes to my attention that anyone effectively relying only on Google SERPS to "make money" is a idiot. You know more than ever you can use Adwords to get that top position for the search engine. We have ppc guides, quality tricks of the trade, but we don't use them.

I look forward to the next update, it won't bother me or decrease my earnings at all. In fact, it might even boost my profits through the roof by getting rid of every kid out there with their crappy mns websites. Quality > Quantity even at a price ...

    My opinion:

    • I view this as a point in time to start fresh. Some niches have been wiped out, you can rebuild and dominate a new niche (theoretically)
    • I'd like to know how to maximise rankings in Binghoo for alternatives
    • The more damage Google does to the seo industry, the more specialist the skills become and the more of an advantage i have
    • I've been penalised, my sites have recovered all but one - so there is light at the end of the tunnel

Thanks Gorang that is more of what I was looking for.

I was just ranting guys, don't take it too serious or personal if I have a dislike for Google's Profiteering.

So google is a web site that can display whatever they want to maximise their profit.

Presumably you also have a website where you display what you want so you can make a profit.

I do agree with you that monopoly is bad thing generally though

I too believe that Google is a monopoly and many leaders around the world have turned a blind eye to their activities, which are quite anti-competitive and devastating to small businesses. But Google's profits are not driven solely by penguin. Penguin is simply one of many tools Google is using to change the topic of discussion among webmasters as they continue to march towards a paid search engine.

Besides Penguin, there is Panda, PR exports and of course unnatural link notices in webmaster tools to fill the air with smoke while Google removes organic listings from page one of the SERPS and replaces them with paid ads. Do you recall the botched unnatural link notices and the supposed oopsie of classifying some sites as parked domains and killing the rankings? While it is possible these were missteps by Google, it is also possible that these missteps were by design so that Google could further change the discussion from their transformation to a paid search engine.

Some niches are no longer worth pursuing when organic traffic is dependent on ones success. Less than 10 listings on the homepage and all paid ads above the fold do not bode well for the internet marketer or small business. Either way, this reduces consumer choice and is a key factor taken into consideration for anti-trust lawsuits. I believe in the future we will see some sort of major legal action taken against Google, and I hope to be a part of that litigation too.

Google is presently engaged in psychological warfare with webmasters. By confusing the greater public, fewer eyes are looking to Google's SERPS to see what is happening. Sure, many websites have lost their ranks. But the SERPS are entirely different in many of my niches now. More of my niches are dominated with paid ads above the fold. Even if I ranked number one in these niches again, the traffic would be far less. One must question whether or not it is even worth pursuing anymore.

Supposedly the Penguin penalties will expire at some point. But to illustrate how anti-small business Google is, take a look at JcPenney. Google hit them with a penalty that lasted for what 90 days? http://searchenginewatch.com/article/2073559/JCPenneys-Google-Penalty-Up-So-Are-Profits What JcPenney did was far worse than what many Penguinized websites now did. This is a perfect example of how Google applies their webmaster guidelines differently to large corporations then they do to small businesses. Granted, JcPenney has capital to sue and most small businesses have slowly bled to the point they are on the verge of collapse. Therefore, Google can safely bully the small guys around without risk of litigation.

What would be nice is for us to organize and form a nonprofit group designed to represent our interests in the political arena. We seem to lack any type of clout and the few organizations that cater to small businesses have sat on their hands as many of their member's websites have been destroyed. To be blunt, we lack an organized voice and that enables political leaders to continue their support of Google's monopoly without fear of losing their own jobs.
