Hi all, just wondering if this could possibly, maybe remove a penalty on a site.
    OK, details.

I have a .co.uk that has been slapped with what I presume is a -50 penalty because it's been up and down between page 5 and page 7 like a yo-yo for about 12 months now.
No matter what I have thrown at it nothing has shifted it so I apply for a reconsideration to get the standard 'violates our guidelines blah blah' email.

I start off and remove all links from images and every 'Sign Up' link and left it with just one in the menu and re-applied. Same email back.
Changed content so it wasn't a doorway page, removed the final OBL and re-applied again.
    Same email back again.

Changed content totally so it was just an information page with OBL's to other information sites like wikipedia/news portals etc and again, re-applied.
Same crappy email back at me again.

So now the site (I have it backed up) is totally useless to me sat there and I had a flash of inspiration !

I've deleted the whole thing, hosting addon from hostgator included and deleted the site from Google Webmaster Tools.
I've set up a cPanel 301 redirect to another site so I can benefit off the link juice (74,000(ish) backlinks) and am thinking that eventually this old site is going to drop off Google's radar and de-index.

Will the penalty drop with it and allow me to eventually throw the site back up again without a penalty ?

I know I could just kill it and forget about the domain but it's EMD for the niche and I kinda like it.

Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.

    Thanks for reading.
    KS.

Any thoughts on this at all ?
Would Google possibly drop the penalty along with the whole indexing of the domain ?

I'd say that, after 12 months, it's time to cut your losses and move on.

    Hi

as far as I know there is only one way how to solve it:
    1) transfer it to the account of your friend
    2) he has to contact G and say: .. i've bought this domain, it looks it is in your black list, please "clean" it

.. it was said somewhere in the blog of Matt Cutts that the only way how to remove a ban is for the new owner to ask for that..

    good luck
