    Hello everyone,

I've been trying to promote several newly built sites with article marketing and social bookmarking. Whenever I tried to promote a web site with these and other techniques Google pushed my sites down in SERP. When I gave up an let those sites intact and didn't promote some of these sites gained top 10 positions in SERP.

It seems Google penalizes promotion. Or am I wrong? Have someone had similar experience?

My experience is the opposite, but I never build links too fast. I do it manually by myself, maybe you're building links too fast and G slaps you ?

Nope, I do it manually too. I add two or three links, after that the site disappears.

This is very weird, maybe is a random thing and you need to test more.. keep clear records of promotion and rankings, give some time.. If you already did this then there are a few things I can think about; domain, content and ip.

Make sure all your domains were not dropped in the past and banned by G
    Your content is OK ?(legal)
Your server IP has bad neighborhoods or is it banned ?

Maybe some fellow members who had similar experiences can help you more..

One theory, mainly related to on-page work, is G does this to confuse the SEO. They punish the recent optimizations, but later reward them. An impatient optimizer may make unnecessary (and damaging, SEO-wise) changes in the meantime.

I believe this to be the case. During my link building campaigns I always notice considerable bouncing around. Just keep building and all will be fine.

You just had your foot in the "Sandbox" just make sure to keep linking when you start off hard and stop that's when you will get sand in your eyes..... Make sure to get atleast a couple links for each site everyday, stopping is not an option.

He said he is building two or three links at a time. You seriously think that three links is going to get him sandboxed?? Are you kidding?

Yeah, two to three links a day isn't going to get you sandboxed. Not even close. Just sounds like a quarkie deal. If you are article marketing, the feeds off the article sites might be dumping your content on a few sketchy blogs. About the only thing I can think of. Keep hitting links and it will mellow out.

    This is exactly right......

Stop checking your rankings every five minutes and build some more links. Make a plan for the month and stick to it, do not check you rankings any more than once a week or if you can wait until the month is over. Check them and make a new plan for the next month.

When I start a new site I plan out my link building for the first three months and do not check my rankings at all until just before the three months is up and it is time to plan out my link building for month four.

Those ranking you see the first few months do not mean anything anyway, they are just smoke. All you are doing is obsessing over numbers that do not mean anything yet. Stop doing that and just build yourself some links. Stop worrying about number that have no meaning yet and get some real work done.

I found out, that patience is what works the best.
I had a sandboxed site, which i've given up on,just to find it raiing 2nd for the desired keyword few months later.
The bottom line is, that the results of your action are seen much later, than you think.

No no, you have it all wrong. You got backlinks, went into Google dance while they re-calculated your site, and you were later rewarded for that promotion when your sites ranked.

avoid checking your ranking in google at all. Just work on optimizing your site and building quality links to your site. Google is constantly testing to see if you are trying to cheat your way to top. They will mess with your ranking on purpose to see how you will respond. Just stick to same title, description and page content. You can add content but try not to modify it too much.

Sounds like the G dance to me. Sites always dance a little when they are new before finding their rightful home.

the going up and down is normal.

but yes, if the op is building a few HI PR bl's per day, HE WILL end up in the sandbox for a good while ... he's using newer domains.
Google HATES new domains specially ones that do anything suspect!

However, over time, the long haul, it will be better for you! =D
