Over the past couple weeks I purchased an Xrumer blast service for an established site. Over these past two weeks we've seen a MASSIVE drop in our search engine rankings across the board on ALL keywords.

Without naming precisely the keywords and domain names, here are some examples of the drops we've experienced:

    - A #1 position dropped to #14 position (we had been number 1 for months).
    - A #3 position dropped to #20 position.
    - A #4 position dropped to #23 position.
    - A #12 position dropped to #37 position (highly competitive, most valuable keyword).
    - A #10 position dropped to #18 position.

The keywords are dropping further by the day.

Yahoo and Bing results remain largely unaffected, in fact, our ranking for some keywords has improved.

We avoided all of the usual pitfalls with our Xrumer blasts--we blasted on a wide variety of keywords under a mix of our home page and inner pages.

Has anyone else here had a similar experience with Xrumer blasts? It seems to us based on recent posts on BHW that Xrumer is no longer a viable means of improving SERPs--Google has clearly caught on and penalizes websites for Xrumer blasts.

For anyone who has experienced this sort of penalization--did your SERPs recover over time?

why would you warn a forum full of experts when you only been using the program for a few weeks? I think most of here already know what to do and what not to do..

    English fail.

Yes, as stated in our post, we did. However a fair number of second tier URLs were mixed in as well.

You are mistaken. We've hired freelancers for Xrumer blasts in the past and in the past we obtained favorable results. We're as savvy as the next "expert" on these forums. The results from this blast were disastrous. I have a strong suspicion there's been an adjustment to Google's algorithm to penalize for these sorts of links. If you search Google or even browse these forums you'll see that people have more recently been reporting SERP drops after Xrumer blasts.

Most of the more experienced members here would argue that blasting directly to your money site wouldn't be the best way to improve rankings. It would probably have been a better idea to blast a buffer site instead of the main one. However telling you this doesn't solve your problem so here is what you should do IMO.

Stop blasting and do some whitehat. Articles, social bookmarks, link exchanges, etc.

If you don't mind me asking, how many backlinks did your sites have before the blast? By "established site", I would assume the number would be in the X,XXX+ range.

How was that an English fail?

You just failed because everyone on this forum will tell you that you NEVER DIRECTLY BLAST YOUR SITE WITH XRUMER . You should read before you use such a powerful tool.

Thanks for the tips aStroke--the site in question had around 15,000 backlinks as indicated by MajesticSEO before the blast and was more than a year old. Our Xrumer blast was for 100K links in all spread over 8 URLs and 16 different keywords.

We've never experienced a SERP drop like this before after a blast--have you seen websites recover after this aside from completely re-inventing their SEO strategy and months of additional work?

your conclusions may be pre-mature, in fact i am suprised you lost as little as you did. having 200 websites and white-hat services like link-pushing i frequently drop 30 - 70 positions per day and then they come back, and then they sink and then . . . you get the point.

it takes my sites 2-3 months to "land", i imagine your will perform similar as i have split-tested this with xrumer as well.

I can be helpful , But its a no brainer when someone takes a SPAM tool and uses it directly on their site.

Not being a dick or anything but there are lots of posts on here saying that also.

Just make a basic buffer site plan like this:

5k Xrumer blast > Web 2.0/Article directory > Your site.

This then will make the Web 2.0/ Article directory more powerful thanks to the Xrumer blast and in return it will give better link power to your site.

You're spreading a bunch of misinformation. I have a bunch of sites that are doing just fine and recieve daily blasts with Xrumer.

The past few weeks have brought MANY google changes, and anybody with SEO experience will tell you that PLENTY of white hat / grey hat sites are experiencing a dip or change in SERP's as well.

Let me remind you, not all Xrumer blasts are the same. Go find the posts about randomzing information in profiles, and not leaving a footprint.

Anyway, I'm not going to go in depth here, because frankly its not worth it. It's funny to see these threads though, becuase there are SO many other factors that go in to your SERP's, but its so easy to blame a little link building w/ Xrumer for the loss of your positioning.

I sincerely hope that my conclusions are pre-mature, but this does not seem to be shaking out like previous Google dances we've had with SEO efforts. So far we've only seen progressive downward movement across the board. Every few days our SERPs drop by several additional places.

I've had experience with a smaller site (5-6k backlinks) being dropped 6-7 rankings off of #1. I'm not sure of the cause of it but there were a couple Xrumer/Scrapebox blasts. I swore off blasting the money site and just focused on 2.0s for a while. Over two months, it went back up to top 3. Of course, there are probably more factors than just link quality. I'm afraid I have no solid advice for you other than what I have experienced for myself.
