If you haven't already heard Google has "pulled" out of Russia and there was a heated debate going on about it over here. Went somewhat off topic but was still interesting.

So I was just looking at Windows 10 and how intrusive it actually is which makes me wonder what about Microsoft? Is Russia going to ban Windows 10? That might open up the Russian market for something different?

It depends on if the data stays in servers in Russia or not or is sent outside of Russia. It should be banned under the consumer protection laws that most countries put in place, if not hopefully must countries force them to have in Big Bold Red Letters that says "Contain keyloggers"

I'm surprised that they haven't been banned from selling their product yet.

Unfortunately, Google stays in Russia, they only closing engineering office.

As far as I seem to remember it was in the news that Russia was developing an homebrew CPU architecture loosely based on an ARM processor. If they end up consolidating a plan to migrate their entire IT infrastructure it's unlikely microsoft will keep finding profitable to stay there in the long run, but who knows...

Google revolves around a completely different business model and they probably face quite a fierce competition by yandex already so it's likely an entirely different story...
