Google Not Ranking Me on SERP since the Great May Update of 2020

Greetings everyone, hope you all are doing well.

I just wanted to ask a few things about Google rankings and the May update.

My site (How-Tos related to Tech blog) lost 75% of its keywords in the Google May update. I've tried my best to revive the site after that but Google just doesn't want me to rank on their search engine anymore.

I've tried -
1. Adding regular content (published almost daily)
2. Getting quality guest posts from other authority blogs

And surprisingly, Bing favors my site more than any other site on their search engine. I've been doing quite well on Bing but ehh... it's not Google.

I rank on the first page of Bing within 24-48 hours. So, I don't think my content is trashy or anything like that.

New sites that focused on my keywords are ranking on the 1st page of Google. I just can't figure out why I'm not in their place. I've got more authority than their blogs, a better link profile, and almost the same quality of content.

This downfall started right after the May update. Before that, I was doing well on Google as well. My keywords were constantly climbing up on the SERP. But now, they are dead af. Some of my posts get up to 30-50th position on Google, and then Bammmm ..... they disappear again.

So, I wanted to ask what things did you fix on your website to recover from the Google May Update?

Also, I read that outbound links on the sponsored posts should be marked as rel=sponsored. I haven't done that, is that the reason why I'm behind in the SERP?

I have a couple of Casino posts on my blog. But those links are natural and are related to my niche (tech-based articles that link to casino sites). Are they affecting my rankings?

Again, all of this happened right after the Google May Update. What I think is my site is banned from ranking on new keywords or something like that. I would love to hear your thoughts on this.

Thanks for your time.
Victim of the May Update

1) do a seo site audit 2) disvow spammy links 3) try strong pbns
Hello Mr. Positive, thanks for the quick reply.

I do regular link audits and disavow bad links as well. However, some directory sites and other domains keep linking to my website. Do these types of links affect my rankings? All of those referring domains have 0 DR and idk how to stop them from linking to me. Is it natural or is someone doing negative SEO to my site?

I'll try doing a complete SEO audit of my site really soon. I've never tried PBNs so I'm quite unsure about them. Is there any guide or something related to getting strong and clean PBN links?

Adding regular content and backlinks will alone not help you to ranking your site. See the backlinks will one of the important factor but you also do the seo audit to your site and also do the competitor analysis to your keywords. Identify the issue and make them changes then automatically will your site get ranking. But you have to do these things regularly

Hello Dailyhunt, sorry for the late reply.
I would be grateful if you can provide me with any guide or tutorial on SEO auditing and stuff. Though I'll search for them on BHW myself, but in case if you have any thread that is great and valuable, please do let me know.
Have a great day.

In my opinion no one have clear idea about May update and how to recover from it.

My advise is to leave this site as it is. Maybe put 1 article per week to show that it is still alive.

Start a new site.
