This new addition is a big win for publishers and it should be heavily promoted if we’re to get traffic back from google. I wish google would make it auto and AI optional. What are your thoughts?

It'll automatically take the visitor to the first result. So, the rest of the sites won't even have any impressions. The next change would be to automatically populate the content of the page within Google so that there is no need to visit any website.

Good that you are positive about this update. Personally, I think that this integrated AI in search results with no links to other websites will drive the traffic down to many websites.

Google's new web search button can indeed help publishers to increase traffic by promoting more engagement with their content directly from search results itself.
