It should be noted, this is the first time Google has posted a worse YoY profit per share in the same quarter since before 2009. They dropped roughly 8% in EPS year on year.

From my perpspective, I think this is good news, despite the fact that I still make money gaming Google's system. I can't wait until another company drops them like other-once giants such as IBM or AOL.

Time to push down organic sites even more and put even more ads up top I guess!

Google is certainly willing to take drastic measures to maintain their profits. That said, the organic results might keep receding to the bottom of the SERPs, but I don't think they'll ever disappear.

My guess is, at least partly, Google is feeling the pinch in their earnings because they continue to spam ads heavily. Adsense is what grew last quarter for them (profits wise).

Google'll deliver less paying ads on adsense publisher sites and high paying ones on their own sites. So they can earn more without placing more ads in search pages.

Google's had serious problems with CPC dropping a lot, so I highly doubt it. It's been a consistent trend for over 6 quarters now.
