So forgive me for being late to the party because apparently this launched five days ago but I just noticed while I was doing long tail keyword research and trying to pick off all of the how-to questions a lot of them had video answers. This is a little discouraging now it's even harder to go after those how to keywords. I don't know how Google is choosing these video answers but I'm guessing their staff are the ones handpicking the relevant section in them.

Alexa, Siri, Google Assistant, those "how to ...?" questions are perfectly suited for video/speech answers. I'd assume they are not hand picked, it's basically a featured snippet. For song titles, these video appear quite often for example.

The reason i think its handpicked is because its a video snippet, like the exact 20 seconds of the 6 minute video for that how to section have been chosen. Unless they have voice recognition searching through videos...then my hats off to you google
