Google Killer search engine

Time Warner? Google has three times the market cap as TWX, and has a $15 billion cash hoard. They are as firmly entrenched a player as there can be. As they say, the race doesn't always go the strongest or the fastest, but that's the way to bet. I don't think that there is a Google competitor on the horizon. Even YHOO and MSFT are failng miserably at the search game (GOOG's cash cow).
It (Kosmix) does have a nice look, though.

I want to see this company succeed so bad, but they're all missing ONE thing 
*hint* The World of Warcraft could launch a successful search engine that could go viral (if done right)... and be an instant upcoming Google killer
*hint* The creators of the game Litte Fighters could do the same.
... habbo and gaiaonline could do the same as well.
It's about social media... that's where the people are.
Search engines are just that... a search engine... people don't see this as a product, only a means...
And of course so can Myspace and Facebook...

Very inspired idea. I wouldn't go so far as to say it would be a GOOG killer, but it would certainly be a viable alternative for a statistically significant market segment (a la FireFox for browsers). -e-

Thousands of Search engine have come and gone like a wind but everyone prefers the Google uncle
Cuil sucks and I tell you why, why should I use something that's undeveloped when there's an established product that I'm accustomed to? Maybe if they come out with some interactive media and integrated their search engine with it I'd be interested
A real Google Killer hasn't arrived because these jokes develop a search engine and that's it, how can you acquire a customer base? I'd say media entertainment IMO. You can't go enroute of an established product and just expect to succeed, you have to take another route and that means to actually be innovative. People don't spend their time trying to look deep and wide for search engines, probably only webmasters do that, their friends tell them "Go on Google and do the research" and they'll make Google their homepage, done deal. These major social networks can succeed with a search engine, for example, if they can successfully upsell. Yahoo Answers only succeeded because of Yahoo's customer base and users. I wouldn't invest in a company that doesn't understand web 2.0 and social networking, and that it's what's in and working. Just my two cents

It's killable I beg you, there just haven't been any near serious attempt at it. The Budget of a compiled income of the members of this forum and innovation could be the starting point for all we know, and I truly believe that is so.

Well in all fairness to be a google killer is simply get the sheep to follow you, how did google do that at the beginning was , creating a demand for things that people thought they could not get , ie GMAIL , remember when that was invite only, google pages etc , all these things are a hype create the hype and up you go, i firmly believe that most serps now have a similar algorithm , or damn close and they tweak it as they wish, but we need competition, imagine if we all from this forum pushed up that serp, well we could also benefit by getting our sites on there First

Google is changing itself to current situation. And making its product more attractive.
And it always try to dominate other so no one can kill it.

I would be dead by the time someone ever takes over Google. It will take more than what you guys are saying Social Networking sites to over take Google.
How many have grown up and gone to school and have been taught to use Google to do your research? Nearly every body and until teachers tell you to use otherwise Google will always remain #1.

Google has great care and ethic respect for it's userbase, that and the accuracy and effectiveness of their products, is why their company is where it's at. There WILL be a Google killer though. armaan I will PM you soon.
