Hi. First of all, this is my first post, and this website is the best [:

When I use google's keyword search tool without being logged into a google account, the results are dramatically different when I do the same search when I am logged in. The keywords that are returned are different, and the global searches are ridiculously different. I leave all the settings as default. Why is this? My friend confirmed this. I live on the East coast of US if that matters.

One example:

( Keyword / Global Monthly / Monthly Searches )
bedding 45,500,000 37,200,000 not logged into a google account
bedding 3,350,000 2,740,000 logged in

Sorry for the links :|

Sorted by keyword.

when you don't log in, kw tool gives you idea of search volume. When logging in, it gives you idea of biddng volume.
click on "about this data" on the right side to see Google' explanation.

I'm sorry I still don't understand. Do you mean that when you don't login, it displays searches that people make, and when you login it displays searches people make with the google keyword tool only?

One thing I noticed in the first photo is that you are searching with broad matches. I couldn't tell in the second photo because it wasn't down far enough. On the left hand side there is an option that says "match types" you want to search with exact selected; otherwise you will get some search volume numbers that are way off.
