I am not sure why but I believe the tool is shady. Something makes me believe that Google adjusts the actual global and local searches to make it appear they are worth targeting when in reality they are not.

I found a good niche with 2400 global but Traffic Travis is showing 0 daily searches. MS shows SEOT of 112 and 266 total searches.

My question is: Who is right? TT or MS?

I am not sure why TT is showing 0 daily searches but something is not right.

The data source of both TT and MS is the same Google keyword tool. The difference could be because of different match type. And yes, Google keyword tool is indeed shady- take its search estimates with a pinch of salt

worth pointing out that the google keyword tool is designed to sell advertising, not suggest keywords for writers, so all the figures are skewed towards that...

does that mean it shows more searches than in reality? is MS better?

lol, thats like rule #1 is knowing that Google tool is not accurate. There are no accurate tools. But they are accurate enough.

Today Google has announced that the keyword search figures would now be more accurate as a result of an Algorithm update. More info here:

From experience I found that Adwords Keyword Tool is pretty accurate, especially when you get to more competitive keywords. Always make sure you are looking at the EXACT MATCH numbers.

I can also confirm the CTR percentages depending on your SERP that are floating around:

#1 gets 42% of the clicks
#2 gets 12%
#3 gets 9 %
etc...

This is also pretty accurate. Of course there are variations depending on the type of keyword and on the actual results that are displayed.

GAWTE, as with other tools, is at best a statistical tool that should be ratio based in logic. Do not focus on actual numbers too much or you might be disappointed.
