Alright, this has really pissed me off.

I found (what I thought was) a really awesome keyword. It has 1.8 million searches broad and 201k searches exact. And an NO competition. All the sites are sitting there by chance.

So my site is a week old and is ranking #2 for this keyword after 1 link push.

You would think I'd be pulling in anywhere from 400 - 2000 uniques a day.

    I'm getting 40?!

    What the hell?

Out of that 40 I have received 38 clicks on my CPA gateway and 0 conversions. ;/

I just purchased Market Samurai, but is this going to help? Where does MS get its intel?

    Cheers!

Market Samurai (on exact) says it gets 6,608 searches a day.

What could be the explanation for this?

G keyword tool supplies search data for MS, though keyword tool numbers can fluctuate from day to day. Even though you are number 2, do you have an enticing description to get people to click on the link? Check out this thread:

    http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackh...-huge-increase-search-click-through-rate.html

There may be a good reason there is no competition in that niche. You are not alone in your search for the unlimate keyword tool. May the force be with you.....

Have you made sure you really are number 2 in google? Make sure you are not logged into a google account. Try clearing your cookies etc and checking your rank again.

if all the searches comes from a specific country your rank can be very different in that google search result
choose US as keyword tool and compare the local searches and global serches for the exact match
if the local are much lower that an explain your low traffic

I was going to say the same thing.
I got tricked a few times by this.

Just surf google on HideMyAss, do the search there and see your ranking

You probably are not ranked #2 for all countries.

    Bingo!

It gets 60k searches a month in Brazil and 22k in Germany (exact)

I'm not ranking highly in these search results at all, US and UK and AUS only make up around 5k a month..

    So.. What to do?

If you are getting 40 visitors a day, that is very good. Most webpage get 100 visitors a day and it pays off around 10-20 dollars. More if it is an high paying affiliate link.

I really don't believe on Google adwords, many times it shows fake results. The tools I like and use is of SEOMoz, though they are premium tools but really effective and helps you to analyze your competitors site.

I personally never tried country specific optimizing, but first I would reanalyze my competition in br and german google..maybe at this point you will just simply give up becouse of the high competiton :) but if not...

    I would
try to get backlinks similar to my competitors
country specific backlinks from .br and .de domains
maybe try to translate your content (but not sure it has too much positive effect to serp but better for your brasilian visitors especially who dont even now a word in english)
viral scripts could help also imho to make the site stronger in that country

but as I said this things is just where I would start, but make a heavy resource before start becouse maybe these thing are totally misleading

Google keyword tool gives a very rough idea of what to expect, but in my experience falls well short of helping you practically to evaluate predictable results from any given action.

You still got a certain amount of uniques though. I would suggest keeping with the keywood tool and working out how much lower, on average, you can expect the real world results to be there. Then work on that basis in the future. Just crank things up.

Use Exact, not Broad searches value.

    G. will never give you the excat numbers. Why would they? The exact no. are worth a lot of money.

The best way to determine the search volume is to make a really bad adwords campaign with low a CTR and let it run for a week.

I do use exact. However I didn't notice or realize that I wouldn't rank in every country. I kinda though that US would get 80% of it anyway, but I thought wrong.

I think that is due to a bit problem of your site; it is not crawled by Google properly. Check the settings links of the software you are building up.

So many people fail to understand that Google Keyword Tool isn't designed to pick the keywords for your site!
It's designed to Adsense advertisers, and as such ALL THE RESULTS are skewed toward convincing you to advertise with Google.

People shouldn't misuse a tool and then complain that it doesn't work. (Not to say that there's no use for it, but don't base your entire site around it...)

====> Oh and use Scroogle to check your ranking, Google shows you what it thinks you want to see, so if you keep searching for your site of course it's going to show it on the first page when you search! Scroogle dumps the Cookies that Google tries to load your PC with, so it should give you something closser to an unbiased result.
