Google Paying Apple More Than $100 Million Annually For iPhone Search Deal

    http://geekapolis.fooyoh.com/?mid=geekapolis_gadgets_wishlist&page=1&document_srl=4561527

Rumors are floating around that Apple may or may not be building their own search engine. Which, sounds a little silly to me.

One reason Apple might not want to build its own search engine: It's getting over $100 million a year from Google in its revenue share deal, according to our source.

For Apple, that's not a lot of money. But, it's enough that it doesn't make sense for Apple to put considerable resources towards building its own Internet search engine. And, if Apple wanted more money or options, there's Microsoft ? with Bing and a big checkbook.

first of all ... building a search engine isn't so easy like peoples think ... more ... look at the fiasco from microsoft and their live/bing/hotmail/msn ... at the end of the day google folks are good for at least one thing ... their search engine ( since it's popular and most of peoples using it .. ) and of course with this come adsense/adwords witch practically put money on their pockets ...

yep, you are dead... right... on. there are hundreds of search engines, but most people go to G first. even people who live in other countries.

who uses hotbot, or alta vista, or dogpile, etc. etc. etc.

making a search engine is a waste of time, since nobody is gonna use it!

People were the same before google was popular, no1 will beat this search engine etc etc.

It will happen, another will raise and take googles place, maybe it can be YOUR search engine? :)

Building a search engine isn't a waste if you're going to do something Google hasn't done... What needs to happen is that these smaller search engines need to either merge into one or do one HUGE search deal to compete with Big G otherwise just stick with Google

I agree. Anyone remember Woolworth's, K-mart or Sears? History is littered with companies who had considerably more resources over their competitors but all of them eventually failed.
