Google is now public admitting that site-speed is part of their search ranking algorithm now.

I would bet my left nut that - time on page is also one resonantly added.

    Example:
user visit Site A from search-result - if user is back doing new searches - Google knows how long time you spend on site A (and based on how long time user spend - if the user found what she was looking for).

    Just wanted you to know.

Yeah I got a newsletter about it yesterday, went and took a look at all my sites just to make sure I wasn't hurting myself.

But even though Google has now started considering site-speed it should be something people optimize regardless. Even if Google didn't use it, it definitely effects the time people spend on your sites and whether or not they even bother to read or do anything which in turn effects your revenue.

Yeah.. I read about that too.... But It was bit different.... It was like this:

user is searching your keyword and clicks your site... Then he immediately hits the back button and go for next results...

Any source of this or just mere speculation from any clever blogger in search of a link baiting?

Naa if you will search then you will find it.... Site loading speed is although new factor but bounce rate was inside from long time... Site loading speed also affect bounce rate so over all speed and performance is now critical factor for any site for ranking... BTW these were integral part of any reasonable person's overall planning for his/her site. Low loading or high bounce rate always result in people running away and you loosing money... :)

    Home Page:
you can just use a redirect to prevent the back button from working :)
user presses back -> hits redirect page -> gets redirected back to where they just were

adwords takes site load time into account when calculating QS, so it makes sense that it would also be a factor in serp rankings
