Since the Penguin I stopped being G bitch and now I am actually making money :). Deleted webmaster, youtube, analytics and deleted every instance of google and google update BS I could find from G. Now I use 100% Bing, for search, maps, video etc. There are many other places to get traffic and sales.

I feel Mr. Wheaton was trolling people, nobody credible has come forward with a similar experience. Beyond that Youtube is Google's service and if they want to replace the like/dislike with Google +1's, that's their business, you can run your video sharing service however you want.

I read this as one less man targeting the 90%+ search traffic that comes from Google. Thanks for being content with inferior engines just because you can't handle panda updates I guess.

He's not trolling. Google admitted it. They're testing it to some but not to all to see how it goes. I feel badly for people who make their money with videos and rely on the likes to push them up in the searches.

Where did Google say they were testing requiring a plus login to use like/dislike?

I think this is comical of Google. Matt Cutt's preaches about making unique and quality content so others will "want" to link to you. But, Google forces Google+ down our throats instead of practicing what they preach. People should "want" to use Google+, noit be forced to. This will backfire on them.

It's right in the article I linked to. "According to a statement released to Mashable by a Google representative, the company is only testing the button on certain accounts in order to get feedback from the community. Depending on the feedback, Google will make a decision on replacing the current voting button with the +1 Like button across all YouTube videos."

I also think it will backfire. Most people don't like Google + and hardly use it, if at all. They like Facebook. People will skip liking the video before they sign into or sign up for Google + to like it.

with enough money and time g+ will catch on. Things change fast, g is causing chaos in the organic search to push people to use paid advertising, its that simple.

Hm, well thank you for your reply. I am content with making money but I am not wanting to be a sheep pulled by its nose. To an hard core alcoholic the drinks are the best thing in the world but one day he says screw this and gives up drinking. Sober he realizes he feels better, thinks clearler and can even get it up. He realizes that there is a life without alcohol. There is whole other world out there guys. You don't have to go cold turkey ( and many should not) but just dip your feet, feel it, expand your reach and think objective for a moment.

I do admit to be biased and disagree with many of Gs hidden and exposed agendas aimed at ( what could be perceived as) destroying competition and forcing little guys away from seo into adwords. Some ppl might have other issues like tax evasion, anti trust, unfair market manipulation etc.

At the same time I am not delusional about G and I understand its reach but I do not have to consume myself with it nor will I grab every new magic pill that comes out after new G update.

By re-channeling energy and resources into other traffic and sales venues you are actually able to diversify and endure intentional or accidental coffee spills at G's algo and expand your marketing reach. Bing is nowhere close to G in terms of quantity but for me the result visitors are better. Traffic that comes to my business from Bing is much better quality. Bing has different demographic that just works better for me. Search traffic is just a small part of internet marketing.

While some business models and niches can not survive without Google I am lucky not depend on G at all. I neither need it to make money nor do I need G for personal use. I even do not need the Internet to make money as my business offline selling/providing evergreen B2B services. I play on the net with MNS, membership sites, lead gen, software and information products, cpa, the ussual. Did some of my MNS sites loose rankings? Sure. Did some others improve? Absolutely. Did my money sites loose organic traffic? Some did some did not.

Do I get traffic to money sites from somewhere else? Absolutely. I get much more traffic now from affiliates, facebook, 7search, bing and twitter than I ever had from G. By not focusing on pleasing G exclusively and jumping every time it whistles I can I try new marketing methods and making sales.

All I am saying is expand your horizons, guys
    wishing you all the best.

I think Google fails to understand some very basic truth. No matter what service they create from now on its gonna fail. For example, if Google were smart enough to create Pinterest it would still fail.

Major reason being - trust. Google is a not a trusted brand anymore when it comes to people's personal details.

Very true! For me facebook is the same.... they save your info for the US government,
and don't offer any privacy. They have no interest in what their users want, just what
they think will make more money... everything is being forced on people.

Youtube will fail horribly, and when it goes, it will be very fast and swift. The search feature
is pure dung, and when it's owned by a search engine, you'd expect a lot lot more.
