So I was checking my search engine position this morning and guess what, two of my sites weren't on the first page anymore. I noticed that they started dropping slowly yesterday from #2 to #4 etc and this morning I find my sites on the 700th position. Is that normal? Will the sites be back on the first page soon? Both of my sites are about 3 weeks old, have unique content, no sales links, wordpress blogs, not autoblogs. They are on the same google webmaster account and the last thing I did was upload sitemaps yesterday.

Its called the sandbox. Dont worry you will be back in your spot in 1-3 months usually.

    Keep link building.

I don't get it, why were they sandboxed? I didn't use any linkspammers, the sites had original content and why both sites at the same time o_O

As Jcsarokin mentioned, welcome to the Google Sandbox. Just Google, "Sandbox" and it should explain everything to you.

Was your site "thin affiliate content"? If so, it may have received a manual penalty. Google regularly check the quality of sites in the top 10 for competitive keywords. Doesn't matter how old a site is - if it's in the top 10 and it doesn't meet their checklist, down you go.

3 Weeks seems a bit early for a sandboxing in my experience but it could well be that's what it is.

Just to clarity, the sandbox is defined as when your site is nowhere to be found in Google, but still ranks well in Yahoo and MSN. Might I ask how you got to #2 in just 3 weeks?

I can still find my sites in google but they are faaar away from the first 10 pages. But if I google www.mysite.com it comes up first. One site was niche, it just had informative content on the product which I was about to put on it soon, the other one was just a blog with no money making purposes at all.
How did I get #2 in three weeks? Well first of all the keyword had only 250k competitors and was getting a decent traffic. Made a youtube channel with lots of videos, linked the website in the description, a twitter account which updated with every post, a facebook, myspace, random articles on web2.0 properties, 1 failed linkwheel and lots of website profiles on whois sites. One of the sites in not a niche so here: englishrussia.org. Ehem..it's kind of a rip-off of the original english russia but the domain was available so yay to free traffic :)

depends on the age of your site. If you site enjoyed good ranings for a long time and it suddenly gets dumped it's a very bad situation and often there is little that can be done but wait. Google gives no exmplanations.

It's best exp. of Google Sandbax. Understand one thing if u will not keep adding quality backlinks + adding more articles , Your site ll not come back on top.

Google is becoming smart. Google know now, people building site, do alot of spam and then wait for 3-4 months to come out of sandbox :p to make money . hehehehe

Google is not n00b. Only Quality LSI Based can make google happy. <= this is for only WH webmasters :)

My blog & domain.com was just on the verge of busting onto page 1 when it disappeared - I stopped looking after about 40 pages. It still comes up for 'domain.com' so it's not like I was banned/dropped. I'm totally whitehat - just wordpress, words and some g-rated pics. A couple of days later it was back. I've moved up from item range 120-130 to #11 (LOL) in about 2 weeks. Several months in the "sandtrap" would have sucked.

You got a penalty. There's a good chance that the penalty will go away after 1-3 months, but you need high quality links that don't look like SEO to help the situation.

I don't believe in the sandbox. I believe that google is more likely to pay attention to a new site that has unnatural link building because it doesn't have any natural links, and SEO easily stands out. If you build links properly, you don't have to worry about sandboxing.

Not sure if you are being serious or trolling. Just repeating what the person above you said and using the word "spam" isn't helping anyone.

@OP: My site too dropped. This shit sucks!
