Hey guys, I have a little problem:

I made a new WP website 2 days ago and created 1 post and Contact us page. I'm using All In One SEO plugin and inserted appropriate meta data. Also I made that post a static homepage in Settings>Reading.

Website is indexed properly in Bing and Yahoo, but when I check on Google, is showing my web address for title instead of the one I assigned in AIOSEO and this description:

123-123456789some@companyname.com. Login. Username Password Remember Me. Forget? Forget your password? Username or E-mail. Remember ...

    What's the problem here?

(when I uploaded the page, I pinged it, got it on Linklicious and shared it on FB, TW and G+.)
    Here is robots.txt:

    User-agent: *
    Disallow: /wp-admin/
    Disallow: /wp-includes/

    Sitemap: http://WEBADDRESS/sitemap.xml.gz

I said that I made appropriate meta data (title, description, keywords) in All In One SEO :)

And both title and description are not showing properly on Google. (but they do on Yahoo and Bing)

What theme, maybe it is your theme problem, or google indexed the site when the name was not there

Is it showing that for your keyword(s) or is it when you type site:yoursite ?
PM me your site if you wish to :)

This could be the problem I guess, but I literally just installed WP and pasted/formated article, inserted shortcodes and posted, I doubt Google indexed the site so fast.

Is showing that when I type site:mysite.

Maybe I have to give Google another day or two? (I'm drip-feeding social signals from FB/TW/G+ every day)
Can I start backlinking right away even though Google didn't index it properly?

^^ site:mysite sometime shows wrong description for me as well, but not for keywords. Check with keywords if you are ranking for any. If you still have problems, PM me your site. I will have a look :)

P.S. try re-indexing your page from WMT.

Ok, cool, I never got that problem tho.

I'm not ranking for anything yet because site is 2 days old and I haven't done any link building. Btw can I start backlinking even though Google is not indexing my site properly?

Not too sure about that. I think it should be Okay, given you don't over-do it. Let a SEO guy answer this one!

Try setting title to individual pages. If no luck temporarily change your theme to twinty ten theme. It may be because of the theme you use.

I'm just posting another page and I'm going to delete AllInOneSEO and replace it with Yoast SEO, I've read that AIOSEO can have problems with WP 3.1+. Will report what happens when Google indexes that page.

Only thing to watch out for is misplaced php tags which can reveal your source code. If it's just a placeholder for meta info you haven't added, then it's a matter of configuring it and google may have indexed the site while you still didn't have the info, as others said. Most seo plugins don't do very much : a properly configured WP installation will do just fine in most cases.

Like bartosimpsonio, said, Google may have indexed before changes.

If the problem remains my set up may help you for WP home page but always check your source code for errors first, while logged out of your WP admin. Also clear all browser caches before checking for errors. Before making any major changes or adding plugins you find questionable, backup your entire WP website files and Database before proceeding.

For my home page I create an actual page, not a post. For that page I leave all Meta info blank if I am using that page for the home page of the website.

WP Main Settings fill in your website title and tagline.

All in one SEO main settings,

    Canonical URLs: yes checked

Use Original Title: Yes checked = Checked to yes will disable All in one SEO home page Title and will default to word press Title and Tagline for the home page only.

under all in one SEO "main settings' fill in the website Meta description and keyword data for home page , but leave the title blank? Mentioned above you disabled it, so you can use word press title and tagline.

Check you theme settings, my theme has SEO built in, for home page settings, I leave all Meta info blank. I also USE a modified Heatmap Theme, which is a bit more complex than the average theme.

Exclude the page you created for your actual home page in your sitemap plugin by the Page ID if using XML Sitemap Generator for WordPress 3.4.

As added protection, redirect the permalink for the page you created for your home page. In htaccess so there is no chance of duplicate content. With so many updates in word press this might not be necessary. My home page was titled "home" in the permalink structure, and as added precaution I always place a redirect in my htaccess. After a few WP updates I have noticed they addressed this problem, But double check it anyway.

Check your source code for Meta Tags, you should never have a missing, blank or duplicate meta tag or doubled tag in your page source code. if you do something is causing a major problem.

    CACHE PLUGINS AND ISSUES

    W3 Total Cache
If you are using W3 Total Cache is very buggy, it can really mess up your websites meta tag structure and prevent it from ranking and displaying meta tags properly. For my site it was creating duplicate meta Tags, missing tags etc. It also altered the php code so much in many negative ways; I will never use the plugin again. Undoing this plugin can be a nightmare if you are not familiar with code. It is not a simple task for beginners, the standard directions to remove it successfully are not accurate and leaving traces and negative side effects.

    WP super Cache
Because W3 Total Cache was a total failure with meta tags and bugs on my site, I did not even try WP super Cache so I cannot say anything bad or Good about the plugin...

Quick Cache Lite version = Recommended
I currently use Quick Cache Lite version, Seems to be safe and reliable to speed up the site and I have had no PHP or code problems that I could find.

I hope this helps. Please check all your settings and other plugins.
