    Hey,

I have been working on a trending niche for the last 2 months. I have worked hard and I have been holding the #1 spot for that keyword for the last 3 weeks (getting a really low amount of traffic).

The keyword will get "Hot" in about a week and I am in a really bad moon now cause I am nowhere to be found in SERP for that particular keyword. I suddently dissapeared. I still have a good ranking for other related keywords but I dropped for my main keyword.

I have build +- 500 backlinks (mostly High PR) over 2 months, nothing to worry about here.

It seems that I am google dancing but it is really NOT the time.

Is there anything you think I could do to come back on top as soon as possible?

    Thanks,
    J0kerz

What page are you on now?

Not that it really matters, there really is nothing you can do if google randomly "dances" with you.

My main domain name, for wich I was ranking #1 for that keyword, is nowhere to be found in the Search Engine, still indexed tho.

I am holding the #1-#5 spot for other related keywords with that same domain name.

I had a drop only for the main keyword...

Dude seriously it happens to almost everyone. Work on creating more sites, it can take awhile before google decides to stop dancing with you. Continue to build links for that site.

Google was doing that to one of my sites for the last 2+ weeks, finally settling down and getting back to normal.

I'm good for giving advice sometimes but bad on following my own advice. If I did, I would have a 1000 sites up by now.

As someone said above, forget it and move on. Easier said than done since we tend to fall in love with our projects, nonetheless, the advice is worthy of consideration.....so, move on!

One of the biggest problem I run across here is just like yours, ranked well, getting traffic, traffic stopped. Or, site up for a week and not indexed "what the f**k".

Either way, you'd be amazed what happens if you just ignored the site for a week and worked on another project or site for that week.....worse case you get another site up :)

There may be at least one exception. If you're building an authority site, then I guess spending more effort on analyzing and fixing those things that are wrong would be the right course of action.

    Good luck to you!

All my sites have a tendence to dance.
    My last site was:
    1. On page 50 when indexed
    2. First result
    3.Completly deindexed froom the keyword
    4. Reappeared on page 600 or something
    5. Back on front page as number 8
    6. 3 page
    7. Back on number 8

Keep building backlinks. Don't stop - this same thing has happened to me before but it came back after some quality backlinks.

    Good Luck.

The hard part about ranking for trending keywords, especially ones that are hot, is that there will be a ton of activity around that keyword in a short period of time.

This causes your results to fluctuate since there is so much content and information going around. The worst part is that if and when sites with a lot of authority in Google's eyes start to post content about trend, they will more often than not beat you out.

This is not to say you cannot rank well. It just makes your job harder to hold your rankings.

because if the trends rush in and the people are searching Google gives the top sites placements, like news vids etc and you as a small low PR player gets kick off

As d3t0x said, don't stop building backlinks. Don't let Google Dance or the Sandbox scare you off.

I know this effect all too well. My solution is to create my own authority sites in a long term strategy.

I have 4 trends based sites at the moment in parallel streams which I'm slowly growing into trusted sites.

I have achieved this in the past. Google was crawling my site every minute and I could find myself appearing for a trend result in the top 10 for pretty much most trends. It took 2 years and serious backlinking to work, I was in DMOZ as-well.

Now I'm trying to speed it up to 1 year with my 4 new sites, as I know a lot more than I did about backlink strategy. I started the project 5 months ago and 1 of the sites is already starting to show some serious muscle in the serps.

I'm trying to see if I can make money with some micro niche adsense sites, but G has been dancing them so hard that I don't know how much money I stand to earn and if I should keep setting more of them up or move to another method.

    No idea, I hope not...

I thought Sanbox was a General Ban. Can you be sandboxed for only one particular keyword?

If you are in the sandbox, your site will have poor performance across the board. If some of your pages rank well, you are not in the sandbox.

When you feed backlinks into the system, they normally cause some rumblings in the serps. You tend to float back up to a good position and hold it, but how long this takes is at Google's discretion. It may be frustrating, but you may not be back up in time for your trend window.

1 Rule - Always have backup niches to spread the risk.
