So it's Google dance day... My ranking for our primary keyword was sitting comfortably under Wikipedia for a week or two in spot 4-5. This keyword is worth a lot of money, and I was quite happy with it's position, given the competition are corporate SEO teams.

Monday comes along and the rankings are litterally changing every 30 seconds.

4 -> 10 -> 6 -> 5 -> 10

What gives? I am tracking ranking via unsigned-in Google and market samurai.

Do rankings really change this quickly? Should I worry that I will end up at 10?

No matter how many times I go through the "Google Dance", I still worry every time! 99/100 everything goes fine.

Remember, (in my estimation), SEO strategey is just simply showing G that you have a "naturally popular" website for your niche. When you're linkbuilding and/or making changes, it seems to trigger a series of "filters" to make sure you're not trying to manipulate things too hard!

I had a site recently that was bouncing from page 1 to page 2 almost on an hourly basis. It started a #17 and when it was over, I landed at #11.

To my way of thinking, a lot has changed recently with ranking a website... more work is required (the downside), but less people are actually willing to do the work now that just blasting with SB isn't working as well as it used to (the good side, less competition).

Good luck... probably nothing to worry about... too much!

Breaking my head! But nice to know that others have seen the same. I have also seen the dance go crazy, in fact on this same keyword i was #13 and ended up at 9 last time :)

Guess I'll find out tomorrow.

If you have been doing a lot of backlinking lately then it's most likely just "Google Dance".
