Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if this is true now : https://www.seroundtable.com/google-buying-links-throwing-money-away-24003.html

Gary Illyes from Google said at SMX Advanced on stage that buying links from sites that sell guest blog posts and the like is the same thing as throwing money out of the window. He said it is "literally throwing money out of the window," which means Google isn't counting those links anyway and you are wasting your money.

Gary added that they now are way better at ignoring these paid or manipulated links and don't penalize them as harshly or as much.

Edit : This could be a big blow to the so-called guest posting gurus

What Google Is Trying To Tell You Is That You Should Make Your Links On Your Own

I don't agreed with this. I am not a link guru and not running any seo services. Check your competitor site and try reverse engineering and you will see how much PBN / guest post link behind them. Did ever google or so-called white hatters saying to build a backlink as anyone else (behind someone identity ) PVA . proxies and all the blackhat stuffs :D.

Lol, no "guest posts" still work and will continue to work for the foreseeable future. Its the fucking turds that offer "guest posts" on "high DA" sites that are usually spammed to death PBN's, or free contributor sites, or "authority" sites with a lot of fake authors who know what the links are/were worth.

I have a good list of these types of sites but I don't resell them or offer "guest posts" because they will be offered for a premium price in no time.

Oh well, if you're too dumb to check if they're free or lightly moderated submission sites, then you probably deserve to get ripped off and slapped by G haha.

100% agree with the statement above. That's why I said "Guest post providers" will take a big blow.

As above said, It's the 'quality' of the posts that do it. Of course someone from Google s going to say they don't work. Are they going to say "Oh they are the best!".
No. They're not going to encourage unnatural ranking!

Of course not but I think that Google can now spot the difference between a legit article and a spammy one. My bet is they're looking a the overall quality of the article and the anchor text. I wouldn't be surprised if they also targeted low-quality contributors from various sites like Huffington Post, Forbes, Blogher etc..

I just cannot see how long can such unnatural link building last. Google should fix this fast so that everyone who wants to advertise will be forced to pay Google (I happen to own both Facebook, Google shares... lol )

Google staffs - If you are reading this forum, do something about this. You guys are on a fat payroll to work and grow my share value. :p

Lol seroundtable.. not much more to say on that matter really.

And of course a google rep would say this shit.. common sense, he's not going to turn round and say "yeah guest posts are killing it bitches and if truth be told we're having a hell of a job tackling that as it's quite hard to tell what's legit from what's not.. even with our super google powers"

    For fucksakes OP..

I'm particularly tired of morons offering links on sheknows, shewrites, momblogger sites, nofollow/noindex huff posts, $1000+ Forbes links, sharecare and other "guest posts" that are actually internal profile blogs LOL...

... they are crawling with these retarded offers on fiverr and FB pbn groups. I actually asked about getting accepted into some of these higher authority sites that are moderated a while back and have had some success since then. Luckily they aren't offered by many people anyway and won't be, because the people offering these only do things half assed. Plus the moderation can be tricky to get around if you don't build up a decent portfolio.

If someone invented a way to slap people through the internet I would buy it.

I actually think Google might start ignoring these links in the near future. I highly doubt it has the resources to analyze the quality of a page, because everybody has a different writing style. There are also things like plays on words, sarcasm, humor, "social" slang ("on fleek", "lit", "that's fire", etc) and phrases that would be impossible for an algorithm to analyze for "quality", which is probably why a lot of shitty content still manages to rank.

It would probably make more sense for them to reduce the weight, or simply devalue outbound links from Forbes and other sites that are constantly being offered as "premium guest post" sites. These links are still valuable for the time being, but as they get spammed I can see them losing their value over time. We all know Google loves to kiss big brand ass so who knows for sure.

Forbes, Inc lmao. Those are nice and fine for a brand to brag about, but they're aren't going to make your site successful.
I will say to you all what I say to my clients,

"It's all about the shoulder niches bitches!!!"
Build relationships and put out quality content and you don't ever have to worry about an algo slap.

Every algo update that comes and goes my clients be like:

I think forbes/huffington links would be of value for bragging rights.
    "As seen on Forbes"
    "Featured in Huffington"

So even if Google doesn't like the links, people wouldn't because they recognize the brand.
