I know! Last time I was on youtube it was hassling the crap out of me, and I was through the whole process it actually made it pretty hard to keep my normal username. They are basically making it really hard to keep your normal username, in hopes that people will not want to go through the hassle and switch.

Yes, and then Apple would nuke you by making you pay for their services...

By the way, in regards to the "real name" thing, I think that Google is just trying to prepare itself for its own social network or trying to make Google+ the next Facebook. Unlike Facebook, Google would know what to do with such a database of "real" users.

At this point, I would gladly welcome Apple to engage the social network/search engine arena. And actually, Apple would probably be the answer to Google's subtle monopoly.

Not really. Apple is just as bad if not worse. Though if Apple created its own social network I think Facebook would fall apart just like MySpace did, and Google would once again fail at trying to create their own social network as everyone would probably turn to Apple.

They need to stop with all this bullshit. Internet should be a place were anonymity is the 1st step for people protection

No doubt about it, Apple would be worse. Though, you make it seem as if my statement encouraged the idea of Apple to take over the search engine monopoly. I think we can all agree that if that were to ever happen, things would definitely end up a lot worse for the small guy's, us.

To clarify, what I mean was that if Apple were to emerge in the search engine platform, it would give Google a run for the money, and theoretically this would eventually nullify their monopoly, but definitely not put Google out of business. I don't think an Apple search engine would ever be able to outperform Google's for the simple fact that Google established that market first, the same way Apple dominated the smart phone market, because they did it first.

I agree Apple would dominate a social network platform, but It seems like a long leap to jump in to without first developing a search engine.

Yes, I know what you meant, and I agree with you, but I'd rather see someone other than Apple bring competition to the search engine field to show Google that they should quit their monopoly game. Other than that, you never know, Apple may already be working on a search engine. Though as you said I doubt that it would ever be as successful as Google, they would probably end up like Microsoft.

Honestly, I agree. I would rather see Apple take a shot at making a Search Engine. I'm tired of Google, even though they make me money.

And shortly after the real name comment rollout, they rolled out tool to let you anonymize videos (blur faces). G can never make up their mind about anything.
