https://fiber.google.com/about/

The$0/month internet service requires a $300 construction fee (or $25/month for 12 months) and is good for 7 years. The next service is 1GB/sec at $70/month (no construction fee). The final, and best service is for Internet+TV at $120/month which includes 1GB/second speed, TV box, Nexus 7, and Storage Box.

This is only available in Kansas City, for now. This is great news.

Heard of it on Twitter, too bad it's only in US based cities :( Luckily I still have fiber optics supported in my region but not the ones of Google.

Too bad I'm locked into contracts with both my internet and tv providers for the next two years. Will have to factor in these cancellation costs as well if it comes to my area.

Well if you're not in Kansas, then you have nothing to worry about, hopefully they bring it to your area around the same time your contract is about to expire...lol

Haha. Yeah, hopefully google will expand to other cities. This is quite the project. I'tll be interesting to see how mainstream this becomes.

When I saw the announcement I thought about moving to Kansas City but then came to my senses. It feels like a big diss to Mountain View/San Jose and by extraction their employees.

Factoring in the conversion it says 1000Mb which = 125MB/s ~ 1/8 GB/s and the low swarm count or servers you can see your movie in < 2 min or more if Blu-Ray. Faster than going anywhere for anything though.

heard about this 18-24 months ago it is pretty exciting, although my provider goes up to 100MBs i had the 54 for a while and it was definitely blazing...although there is a plateau of upload bandwidth...it never goes over 1.5 mbs? thought that was dumb...but yeah the more i think about it now, the creepier it seems...my provider now even can interject messages and webpages if you are late on your bill...im assuming the big g will be monitoring the activity despite what they say, not that it would deter me from getting it but im just saying lol

Yeah, you would be able to do that in 4 second. I won't mind paying $70 a month for this, well I won't mind paying $200 a month for this tbh.

But I think google will have a strict policy concerning piracy though.

I don't think you will be able to download movies even if you have there connection , They will be blocking those sites . Basically it is like having a lamborghini in the middle of a small island with no free way to ride
