I don't know how slow I am but am noticing the new google +1 feature. Am I right in guessing that this increases your blogs ranking on google?

I was wondering what methods are there to get a couple +1 on a blog.

I think a few people have done case studies, and have found +1 'might' influence your rankings, although I still think the jury is out.

Check the BST section, I think I saw recently someone offering an seo package including +1's, not sure if there is a standalone +1 service.

Just reach out to the people who would normally like to read your blog. Get some great attractive content that would compel the users to give a +1 to the site. It may not seem like it now but there is word out that in the future ranking of a site in the searches would depend on the number of +1s a site has.

+1's, FB Likes....they are all the same.

Google wants to see social proof that your sites are what users really want to see.

You can outsource them, but just be sure you don't get a mass amount of people giving you them in a short period of time.

Another easy way to get solid +1s or likes is to do a little research and find some authority figures within your niche.

Then just send them a simple contact telling them you liked their site, thought their info was informative blah blah blah and have liked them on FB/+1 and want them to do the same for you.

The key is to make sure your content is decent, and that you don't sound like you are begging. Just be polite.

For these types of links, quality seems to be better than quantity.

I did a test on my own website.

After +1 I saw that it was bumped up to #9

Quick reality check when I verified that it only influenced my own search, i.e. when I was logged in google.com...

Actual position wasn't changed. I want to conduct an extensive +1 spam and also targeted +1 to see what's going on.

I have been wondering the same thing. Saw a nifty WP plugin that has the +1 button pop up after 20 sec. Been thinking about using it but would like to know more about the results before I put something to get in the way of my users experience.
