Really depends on what you're trying to do. What do you mean by "promote"?

Simply having people bounce off your facebook page at $3 per visitor isn't going to do you much good, and is definitely isn't a very good promotion. The best thing these people can probably do is like your page. If we consider a "Like" a conversion, then even at a 100% conversion rate you're still paying $3 per like. Why would you ever want this.

When it comes to getting people to buy stuff, facebook isn't a very good landing page at all. If you're using facebook as a replacement for a regular site, i would strongly suggest you don't.

In short, this is probably not a good idea. But it's hard to really know without knowing what you are trying to accomplish.

Not with it at all when you could buy likes from anywhere between $10-$15 per k.

    Adwords just can't compete

OP might want real and targeted people liking his page instead of masses of fake botted accounts.

    Interesting question MMAComments,

At first glance this may seem like it could work, especially if you have a page tab where people will land however I tend to agree with the other members who are saying that this is not a good idea. Ideally, you want people to come to your website to buy your product or service. Even though you have the opportunity to showcase products and/or services on your Facebook page, this opportunity should be reserved for when traffic originates on that platform. Sending people to another website other than your own with Adwords undermines the purpose of the advertising campaign.

Also, if you purpose is to get people to like the page, this method of doing that is also ineffective. In a typical conversion funnel, the user must not be distracted by competing elements of a landing page. If the goal is to get them to like the page, there are too many other components on a Facebook timeline distracting them from doing so. Alternatively they could arrive at a tabbed page however paying that much for likes seems inefficient.

Check out these alternative methods for promoting a Facebook page,

I hope this makes sense for you,

Use facebook ads instead of adwords. Better targeting and cheaper clicks.
