Good news: Google no longer requires publishers to use the AMP format. Bad news: What replaces it might be worse

Google stopped prioritising Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP) format in its Top News carousel last month. This means website owners no longer need to publish an extra set of pages written in the AMP format. Instead sites need to meet what Google calls "Core Web Vitals."

They should put plain text and only their links should be clickable, because why not, they are Google. o_O

Unfortunately for many websites, AMP is the only solution that manages to lower the Core Web Vitals metrics.

Their requirements are shit, no the tools.

I don't give a rats ass what they do I rely on marketing, plenty of websites and platforms where you can get your traffic from.
that's mah boy! (saying it in an admiration kind of tone, not insulting tone, don't worry)
If everything goes according to their plan, we can spam SERPs with static html pages :D
Finally all of the nights I've wasted learning HTML will pay off :D

this really sounds like pure garbage,
if this comes to be true, all of the sites using ads (including AdSense) will be pushed down in the SERPs,
that does include many authority websites which meet the core web vitals good scores is not going to happen any time soon

That's great news! I disabled AMP on one of my sites yesterday because it's sh...

The real reason is that it was reporting 98% of AMP visits had a dwell time of 00:00:00, despite me staying on the pages for far longer during testing.

Good riddance...
