I'm learning SEO and reading the many posts listed in very helpful. To improve the SERP I wanted to attempt the following strategy and was hoping the many experts could give me a thumbs-up or thumbs down on this strategy?

    Here goes:

I want to create Word press websites that are specific to one keyword topic, and then upload articles and place anchor text in the articles that lead back to the main site, or money site. In my business there could literally be 100 different keywords that I could use. If I were to create 100 different word press websites (I realize this would take a substantial amount of time) would this benefits my main site? (I figure I would need to use different hosting services and not just one hosting service to rotate the IP address)

Is this a good idea, waste of time, or will Google figure out what I am attempting and penalize me?:)

Well.... you do realise that all those sites are going to come in at PR:N/A and possibly rise as far as PR:0 before grinding to a halt? You're going to have to find or write articles for 100 sites, and promote all those sites... (And if you were to blast the heck out of them, they're really only one step removed from your money site, so don't be surprised if google changes the algorithm on you and you lost it all...).

Pyramids seem to still work well (if what you read on here is to be believed), only now people call it link pushing instead :D I think you need to add another couple of lairs between the wordpresses and your site.

Yes, I wasn't going to upload all 100 sites at once...piece meal and then promote the individual sites by social book marking, and blog commenting. (Have scrape Box and Magic submitter)

or would I receive more benefit by simply submitting articles to already existing article directories with the correct anchor text for backlinks? (I have some skill in writing, one book published another one will be published in September in my market....Insurance)

I'm not a big fan of article directories (particularly Ezine), but some people have had great success with them. I think you're on the right track personally, make the linking structure a bit more elaborate :D

I think Linkpusher posted a really nice diagram in one of his threads, you might be able to find it in the search, should give you some idea of the best way to do it.

You can use one hosting service, just make sure they offer diff server IPs,nameserves etc. If all is set up as it should be, results can be really impressive. Good luck.

hostgator for small/medium sites and vps.net for massive traffic
