Good problem to have

Well I just got a site disabled because it was consuming too many server resources. Seems like I got slammed with a crap load of traffic all at once.

Guess I'm going to have to go to that dedicated solution now. The thing that pisses me off is I'm losing a crap load of money at the moment while the site is down and I'm missing all this traffic.

Lesson learned if you start getting a site fairly popular don't skimp on hosting costs or you may pay for it some way.

No offense but are posts like this really neccasary for this section of the forum. The lounge would be a better place. This should be kept mainly for methods.

If you have a secondary host and a backup, just switch your domains DNS to your other host real quick.

Even better than what you said or rather in addition, have two hosts and a backup of all your data, if anything happens with one host switch the domains DNS to the other one real quick and you're all set.

I don't know if posts like these are necessary or not. But I agree with you.

Well, it's a common sense every growing webmaster has. I have 4 websites hosted on 4 different hosting company, working smoothly.

Actually I do consider this about making money or in my case today leaving money on the table. In the 20 minutes before they took down the site I registered over 900 adsense clicks on a site that normally on pulls in an average 150-200 clicks a day. So I made a decent amount of cash, if I would have already moved to a dedicated solution at that rate and the amount of time the trend stayed hot I would have registered 4-5K clicks. This was just adsense and not the real money I made with the CPA offers which are also on the page.

Thanks for the suggestions of having duplicate hosts, this would have also alleviated my problem here, but hindsight is 20/20.

I was just hoping I would keep someone else from repeating the same mistakes as I made here.
