My deepest apologies if this is in the wrong section, but it is an odd topic and is most def white hat.

Here is my situation: I am (within the next month) launching a service-based site. The nature of the service is such that keeping records of past conversations and situations with clients (to refer back to upon future purchases) will be needed.

I need a good, and cost effective, software that can manage customer records, profiles, information about the client's history with us, etc. I prefer this software to run "offline" but I am open to suggestions.

I have been a sales manager in the past for a fortune 500 company and we used a system to keep track of client/account mangement. We would pull up info about the "lead/client" using this system, including notes about past conversations. This system allowed for documentation of the date and time of any action taken with the client. I am looking for something similar in nature, but have no clue where to start and do not want to spend a fortune on a system until I know for sure the site is viable and will yield a good ROI.

Thank you in advance for your time.

I will keep searching. If I find anything good I will post the source here. In the meantime I'm hoping someone might have something they have been successful with here on BHW. Thanks for the responses.

I found this company "Relenta" that has a pretty sweet web based CRM @ $25 per month for up to 2500 contacts. Sales Nexus is $35 per month for up to 10k contacts, but I'm not as fond of the interface and it is also web-based.

Oprius looks promising...it is web based, $15 per month, and you can sync it with a blackberry or iphone.

Anyone had any experience with these? Any feedback or suggestions?

P.S. to clarify, I'm not really looking to use these tools to track sales/sales process so much as I am to document our history with clients to build a better relationship with them. Thus the primary need is to effectivly and accuratly document phone, email, etc interactions and what was talked about.
