My friends dad has an empty building on one of the busiest intersections in the city (city of 330,000). My friend and I are currently looking for ideas on what to turn this building into (and we're hoping to work in it). Can you guys help me out on some good ideas? probably a store of some sort, just hard to think of a good idea. we need a main theme then i plan on buying a crap load of stuff in bulk from china (ali) to help fill out the store.

    thanks guys!

You're better off finding this out on your own, no matter how you spin it.
You know your city better than us. Find what's in demand and/or lacking & provide it amazingly well.

Offline Retail is heavily about experience so give your shoppers a pleasant shopping environment. Go for a niche or be a small Walmart, although Walmart will eat you for dinner.
Buildings aren't just shops either. Skating rinks do well! Give the people something fun for Christ's sake.

If there are business offices in the near vicinity you could turn it into an 'off working hours' pub and lunch place for 'working hours'. It's a lot of work but margins could be a lot higher than for selling China stuff.

Go for a themed place: sports pub (NFL,NHL,etc), Irish like vintage bar, french bistro or anything like that.
