I am planning my trip from October to Jan-feb, mainly want to live and work from Chiang mai so anything that I should keep in mind? Those who live there or have lived there?

I am coming alone, are there regular meetups to meet people there? Dont want to get bored.

I think there are several SEO meetups there. Have a look on meetup.com or search for masterminding groups on Facebook

My best piece of advice would be to find a co-working space as soon as you get there. They are cheap, comfortable and full of other marketers/digital nomads to network with. It's impossible to not make friends there.

I have lived there. You will not get bored. A lot of open-minded hipsters, bloggers, and people looking to start something that go/live there. I suggest you stay in a hostel first so you meet some people. Do not get motorcycles from these hostels since they usually charge 50%--100% commission on top. Go around the streets and find bike shops directly.

There is this street in Northgate (top of the square) that is filled with hostels. Good place to meet friends. They have good food there in the evening. Around $1.00 per meal.

    Oh, I almost forgot ..

Stay around the Nimmanhemin area. That's where the majority of the 'youngsters' knock about, and where a lot of the best co-working spaces are

For $500 a month, you can get a sweet apartment with mountain views

Enjoy the Khao Soi and numerous (surprisingly good) coffee shops. Tonnes of great places to work from in the nimman area from coffee shop to cohub areas

The best tip is to not tell to any immigration officer that you will work there

Any particular reason you want to go to Chiangmai? There are other great places to live in Thailand :)
It depends on your age and what you like to do in your free time really, lots of choices. I have lived in quite a few different places in Thailand but currently reside in Bangkok.
