Going on holiday for 2 months, what do I do with my $1k/m fiverr business?

I am looking for advice or possibly some ways/ideas on how to handle this.

I am going to go on holiday for 2 months (unfortunately, I cannot come back any earlier). I might be able to have access to the internet but it will be from an internet cafe.

    Fiverr business

The fiverr business generates around about $1k/m (this month it is $1.3k) from two accounts. I have a gig that is featured by fiverr that allows me to make so much.

    I have two accounts;
Account 1 makes for 85% of the earnings
Account 2 makes for 15% of the earnings.

    My options so far:

    Option 1.
JV with someone and give them a cut of the profits.
Problems: Need to find someone skilled, need to trust them (most important)

    Option 2.
Put the gigs on vacation mode
Problems: No money, could affect the featured status on account 1.

    Option 3.
    ???

What would you do if you were in my position?

I must go on the holiday - I have no choice.

Find someone with a solid reputation on BHW and do a JV with him. I am sure you will find someone.

I'd be happy to help you out with that situation, as long as I can do whatever it is your Gig is about. Feel free to send me more information if you decide to take the JV route. Either way, Good luck with everything!

    Cheers!

Well if you want it to be a real vacation with no work, then the JV route is your best bet. But trusting someone not to steal your business from under your nose would be my concern. Unless your totally confident that someone would not or could not take over your niche at fiverr... I would not go this route.

Instead of a JV, outsourcing the actual work to someone who does not know the details of where, when, why, or how the project will be used would be safer. You still have to oversee everything but work on your behalf is minimal. Quality control, delivery, and dealing with questions and complaints.

You mentioned internet access might be limited to internet cafes... but have you thought of a usb stick from virgin mobile or something to get access to mobile broadband to your laptop? Not sure where you are vacationing at but you could check to see if something is available in that area.

Just some thoughts off the top of my head... have a great holiday!

In my opinion the JV option is the best. Minimal input from me and I make money too.

But how do I find someone whom I trust?

Friends? They unfortunately don't know anything about what I do.

How do I judge they are trustworthy?

I suggest you to put "Vacation" mode on your gig and stop accepting orders. It your biz and surely you do not want it to be ruined by others even super reputable members here can be evil. Take care of your own biz

The short answer is you can't trust anyone, but if you TRULY want to enjoy your holiday, you have to let go a little.

If I were you, I'd go the JV route but I would go on Odesk to hire someone because you can hire someone specifically for what you are doing (unless it's some crazy niche) and have the ability for "some" recourse if they screw you over (bad ratings, reporting).

You have to find someone that's going to deliver your product like you to keep your Fiverr ratings (and featured status) because that's your livelihood.

OP, I wouldn't trust anyone here (or anywhere on the net) with my business. Can you get a trusted friend/relative to run it? I'd hesitate to stick it in vacation mode as you might not recover sales once you get back.

And I wouldn't use a internet cafe/hotel due to security issues.

I'd look into getting some kind of secure net access.

It would be best if you go with the JV route and try to hook up with a trusted friend or family member. Otherwise, your business would be lost.
    Have fun on your vacation!

i say fuck the vacation holiday and keep working until you can take vacays without worrying whether you're losing money or not. No way you're going to enjoy holiday while losing money. Is your holiday worth $2600 your losing plus expenses?

People are inherently savage, whomever you trust from the web will plot to steal your method once you show em them ropes. Warned.

You know I could easily make another $1000 from another source of income but it looks like that won't happen until I come back.

I don't want to go either but I have no choice.

Maybe I could train my friend to do this job for me.

Thank you everyone for suggesting ideas and everyone who replied.

Your responses have sown some new seeds in my mind and I will eventually overcome this problem.

If you do not tend to your business for 2 months it may well loose its featured status, and you may well loose customers. In this case your business will be diminished when you return.

If you let someone service your ustomers for two months, you will train them to be your competitor, and you run the risk of them taking your customers, or performing so badly that you get negative reviews, which will cost you not only your featured status, bt also your reputation.

It will be easier to recover from the two months off than a poor service provider or a theft, not to mention teaching so0meone exactly how to be a sucessful competitor on fiverr against you.

Personlly, I would get a phone I could tether to my laptop and get online with and do business as usual, or take the vacation.

Unless I really trusted someone I already know.

Send a notice out to your requlars telling them you are going on a well deserved vacation, and order now if they need anything. They will appreciate that, and you will not leave them in a bind.

Have you ever thought about teaching one of your family members to do your fiverr business while you're away?

If you can teach your friend and if he is trustworthy, go ahead. If not, then better leave it on vacation. Best option imo.
Btw, i think that you won't lose featured seller if you put yourself on vacation.

Sell the business? Write up a manual for the business and sell it for $5-10k or something like that? Then start up all over again. Maybe not the best option, but definitely something to consider.

    JV the best option.
i know some gig on fiverr that run with bots, after someone buy it and put the correct info the bot will do the job, the the owner only need to check all is fine, but don't know if your gig can be done with a bot.

Since your gig is featured I do not think you have anything to hide, unless your "method" to do the gig is something unique. If it isn't I advice you to do a JV with some trusted member in here.
