Will it pass on the link juice? and will the original website still be ranked?

What if, I were to create a javascript redirect, with a popup saying something like "we have moved, going to new site in... 5..4.."

OR, using another type of redirect?

Unless anyone else has a suggestion?

I wouldn`t. I`d make a paralel .com website and experiment, see how far I can go with it, eventually trying to outrank the initial one.

    If you:

    - 301 redirect the subdomain to keyword.com
    - 301 category pages on the subdomain to category pages on keyword.com
    - 301 subcategory pages and posts/pages to their counterparts on keyword.com

you'll have 80% chances of keeping the ranks or increasing them.

Don't stop backlinking to the old domain and as a bonus give it a push in backlinks to the new domain and you'll be fine (mostly social media signals, high quality bookmarks and niche related comments)

If you're in a spam niche ignore this post. It won't work for you.

You can do 301 redirect on your old WP blog to new domain so that visitors who click your WP blog will reach your domain. In this case you are not loosing your visitors. But sooner your WP blog will loose its rank. Bcz no bots will crawl your WP blog. And 301 redirect will pass 100% link juice to your new domain. So if you start building links on your new domain it will easily get ranked.

I don't get the point what @ursuAke talking about. Doing 301 redirect for single page is same as redirecting for domain.

301 the entire site to the new domain, same rankings and will continue as normal, you won't lose rankings lol the other people that said that have no clue what they are talking about.

You are keeping the same website / format / structure / design, and just changing the domain you have nothing to worry about, I've done it countless times.

Don't worry about the change. Keep posting good stuffs and do 301 redirect if possible (not sure if WP will allow you to do so). You should be back on track...

Redirecting the homepage only or as you said, a single page, won't insure you that you keep rankings for a secondary keywords on other pages.

As I've seen it's better to redirect page for page, it helps with faster indexing and lessens the ranking drops :)

But that's my opinion based on the tests I've made in the past.
