i'm 23 years old tunisian guy, i graduated 2 years ago after studying for 3 years (i got a degree in management) there aint no companies here that are waiting to be managed by me or to work something related to what i studied.

i worked for 6 months in a bank, where all i'm doing is one simple task, registering cheques and cashing them for people, you dont need a degree to do this task for a whole 8 hours a day and getting paid 450$ a month, i barely can save any with transportation and stuff, its just too fuckin basic (450$ in tunisia is like 1000$ for american, u barely can do anything with it)

so whoever is making something like 1500$+ a month, i really encourage him to move to a northafrican country, a minister salary is around 1300$ here, so financial struggle is the last thing u'll ever encounter. each country has it's standards (you can google "hammamet" , "sousse" or "sidi bou said" you may wanna live there if u rly wanna move) or u can check morroco, i think its same.

anyway, at my age, is it really worth to start college all over again, i want to have a degree in IT where i'll be studying web developing on true basis to have more control on my main site and be polyvalent so i can extend to other projects easily and actually apply what's on my mind.

Just my 2 cents. I thought if you want to build and develope some webs you don't have to go and learn a tons of IT theory in college. The only thing that you have to do is just practice, practice and practice. No matter you're graduated from management, but you're passion in IT will spend your time automatically to do your hobby.

Never too old to learn mate, just make sure it's what you want to do. How do you plan on paying for food, rent, clothing etc.. Make sure you have a plan.

Before I opened this thread, I thought you were going to say you're 36. You are a young fella. Your life is ahead of you.

It's also never too late to go study. Go my son! Spread your wings! Fly!

Be sure that its not something you can just learn from Google (by Googling the books etc). It could save you money if you don't need the degree to flash as a hiring badge. Here in America, I struggled a fucking long time until I learned that its all about making someone feel that emotion that makes them want to buy. Along with your sutdies ad sales psychology to your side project and mine the pdfs and books from Google. By the time you are done with college you can sell yourself as an IT professional (or a business) and make money closing deals instead of hitting the unemployment line. Don't make the same mistake each person who goes for a degree and a better job makes, school yourself and know job placement is just a lie they tell you to ease you into buying classes from them.

Honestly you can figure out everything you need online. This place especially. If you want to do IT - build something that you'd be willing to show future business partners so they'd be willing to hire you or have you do freelance work.

Social media is your true friend here - not school. Build some cool shit.

Every thread about college a bunch of NEETs come on and bash the idea of a degree. You can get a degree and work on building up a portfolio at the same time, school isn't that much time out of the week.

Get that degree while you're still young and have the motivation. If only I'm your age I would go back to school. Now I'm too busy earning money to get that elusive college degree...motivation to study is already gone.

Learning is always worth the time and money. If you are 100% sure going to college and studying IT will improve you way of life, then go for it. I drop of out college when I was 19 I believe it was. 6 years since I did and haven't regret it a single day. College is not for everyone , and not all of us want a degree or work for someone else for the rest of our lives. At the moment I'm not earning as much money as I would like to, but still better than many.

Going to college or not is something that you need to answer for yourself.

You're still young and you easily go back to college at your age, but ask yourself - is it really worth it? There is so much information on the internet that you can easily learn any kind of programming from home. The only benefit of college I see for you is that you will have a degree and some jobs might require you to have one and also you will meet new people and make some connections.

If you really think you need the degree - go for it, but If you just want to learn web development there are many online courses that will teach you better stuf than the college itself. All you need to do is put your mind to it and start learning.

    Good luck!
