I had registered GadgetHacks.Net sometime back (2 months) and I installed wordpress and forgot about it.

Google search about my site still has the description that I had left on wordpress during installation.

Now I just saw that It shows that it was showing a godaddy parked page.

So I did a whois & it shows REGISTRAR IS GODADDY! They are Stealing my domain..

    WHAT THE FUCK..

What Can I do about it?

login to godaddy domain management and check your "A" record in a dns control panel.. and enter the right ip to show your hosting account

    Contact their customer support.
Its hard to believe that reputed registrar like Godaddy can go to this extent. Try to resolve the issue with them before taking it to public.

Hahaha, what? Reputable? GoDaddy are cunts of the highest order. They'll happily take domains and not think twice about it. They are utter thieving scum.

It seems like you must work for them, because after the problems I've had with GD over the years, I'd suggest taking everything as public as you can as quickly as you can. There are no reasons to use GD or trust them with anything.

Slowly the internet is waking up to them and their shady arse dealings. With any luck they'll become like Yahoo: a useless has-been and but a small footnote in internet history with lessons to be learned in how not to do business.

Many of us have problems with Godaddy in the past. But if Op has registered the domain 2 months back, there is no way they can steal it (as minimum reg time is 1 year). Any such trick from them will inevitably land them in a lawsuit.

I just advised that not to go in public for now because you can always threatened them to do that if they don't cooperate. Its an ace in the sleeves. :D

Edit: and don't foget to move to Namecheap in future. Their free privacy gaurd is awesome.

BTW, It was just a domain with empty wordpress & not a actually a money making site.

I'm not able to decide If I should care about it or just let it go?

I mean, ofcourse I did pay $9 for it, but is it worth the effort.

Do You Guys Think, GadgetHacks.Net is a good one? Or Should I just let it go as its not making any money?

When you registered the domain name you should have received a couple of emails from them. These will have your account info in them, both the email address you used and your login id. I would check them and make sure you are using the same email address that you gave them a couple months ago.

If you still cannot login using the correct info I would contact them and forward a copy of the email asking them what is going on or better yet call them first. Also check with your cc company and make sure the payment actually went through. While telling us about the problem might let off some steam it is not going to get you any closer to a solution. You really need to contact them and get somebody to tell you what exactly is going on.

Honestly while Godaddy has done underhanded things to some of their customers I really do not see them stealing this domain from you after you had paid for it. Really does not make any sense for them to take a chance like that for a domain that is not going to make them any money.

That email will have all you need to get into GD or at least reset your password.
If that fails, just go on Live Chat with them and give them the details on that email... They'll have to fix it for you.

I'd love to hear the outcome of this because I've personally never had any issues with GoDaddy and I've purchased 100's of domains from them.

Clearly, if there is something nefarious going on here then someone needs to be fired because the risk of this type of thing getting out to the general public and damaging their name... seems to far out way any reward I can see from stealing a domain name.

I gotta believe there's been a misunderstanding here, but like I said... please let us know how this works out.

    Best of luck.

No shit. Why would they even bother?
OP: Of course whois shows godaddy as the registrar. You bought the domain from them...they ARE the registrar. Who do you think it's going to say? You?

I have heard so many people claim the same thing about godaddy.. I use them a lot, but I guess it hasn't happened to me because my domains registered through them aren't good enough...

I do not think that a domain provider of a good caliber would stoop down to that level. It may be due to some other mistake. Check.

GoDaddy I don't use them any longer. The day Michael Jackson died I registered ripmichaeljackson.com. They took the money of of my paypal for the purchase. Within the hour they said some bs about it was unavailable. I use namecheap now.
