My host account was suspended today because of a copyright dispute over some photos I have on one of the websites.....

The original photos where plucked from a b0gger blog but wp-o-matic, but the funny thing is that the guy has now changed all his original photos to include 'copyright 2006 blah blah...'

Never mind, ive sent an email to godaddy explaining that I need access to my account for these photos to be removed...

Hope its all ok, im happy to remove them if it means I can have my websites back up and running....

Ouch, I had one site go down a while back. To be fair it was a 100% dupe on UK hosting too lol but the site was no.1 on Google for a very popular keyword but wasn't converting with my page, as soon as I put the ripped page up in came the $$$ :D

    2 weeks later I got screwed :(

Hope it works out for ya. :) Personally, I would never use GoDaddy for any sites that I would want to monetize. Too much of a pain, especially if you have an eCommerce site... been there done that with their funky ports. Also, I've heard a number of times that all someone has to do is get a spam complaint filed against them, and bam, you're out of business... no trial, just straight to an execution.

In fairness, that's never happened to me personally when I used them. The payment gateway hassles was my main motivation for dropping them.

Godaddy is not a good company, very hard to get online help. Best option is use multiple hosting accounts and backup. Then we don't need to worry about it. Transferring one location to another one is not a difficult one. Anyway good luck.

    :) Funny..

@tissa2 how about try to host your images in some free image uploading sites like imageshack or photobucket. Maybe they don't have a reason to sue you because the file is not hosted in your server..

I still don't really understand why, if ou're going to do shady stuff, anyone would opt to have a US based host/registrar.

Go offshore, you can get small plans for 1.35 a month and domain registration (with free privacy) is often cheaper than godaddy. Any host with US offices can be searched and records can be seized - including financial records (like your paypal id/ credit card account).

Almost makes me want to start a new CYA thread...

Lol yeah i had simmilar problems with hostgator. The thing that sucked about them was that they refused to turn service back on untill i contacted them via handwritten paper that had to be faxed to them. Needless to say i just didnt turn it back on.

Im beginning to realise that godaddy are pretty crap, but like most of those who have godaddy accounts, I was drawn in by an offer I couldnt refuse....

I sent them an email explaining that I would remove the offending photos as soon as my account had been reactivated... My account was activated about half an hour later and ive deleted the photos....

I did not expect them to suspend my whole account which included 5 other websites.... I suppose you live and learn.... Lesson learnt: Godaddy is crap!

godaddy is notorious for yanking hosting and domains at the slightest suggestion of copyright, false user info, or spam. and then they make it royal pain in the ass to straighten out. i know from experience after some jackass reported a bunch of my domains for false whois. fuck godaddy...

Im leaving my auto blogs on g0daddy for now, but ive recently got myself a host gator account, which ill be putting any new stuff on.

I have noticed that my hostgator sites load twice as fast as my g0daddy sites..

Do me a favour people: Keep away from g0daddy........ Period!
