    Hi there!

I know this is the Lounge, but i didn't know where else to put this..

I've searched high and low on every corner of the internet for a fix to my problem.(Shocking, a Newbie who knows how to search for something):p:p:p

I just registered a domain, there's no files currently the hosting account(i tried installing wordpress but no luck)

Anyways when I go to my domain I get this message

"You don't have permission to access / on this server.

Additionally, a 403 Forbidden error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request. "

How can I fix this?? any help would be appreciated...

BTW... please don't flame me for using GoDaddy!:eek::eek:

    i use godaddy.

First if you want to install wordpress, go to hosting control center ---> my applications ---> blogs ----> wordpress ... if you have linux, all you do is clicka button and it installs in about 15 mins.

2nd. 403 is because you have nothing on the site. Upload a quick index.php through the FTP and it will go away and you will see your site.

Nothing on the site = nothing to show = 403

    Hopefully i answered your question

Thanks, but I did do the quick wordpress install and still had the error!

I'll try to upload the index.php as you say, see what happens...

hmmm, if you're uploading it into the root directory, the index.html file should come up. I know with godaddy, when you login you are usually directed to the public_html folder.

If not, make sure that when you login to the root directory, open the public_html folder and upload your index page there - i'm wondering if this isn't the problem, as godaddy may have directory listings turned off (and if there isn't an index file, it may be freaking out)

hmm, there is not public_html folder, the root directory shows up as 'html' when in the file manager. I'll try dumping and index into a public_html folder, see what happens

Godaddy has like the best customer support ever. Instead of asking us blindly, call them up and they can go into your account and find the exact problem.

That will fix your problem up in a sec :)
