If you use GoDaddy as your domain registrar (I'm sure a large chunk of you do) than this post is going to show you a loophole/workaround for getting free private domain name registration to not only your new domain name purchases but also your existing domain names. This trick only works if you buy 5 new domains.

    The Loophole Breakdown:

Step 1: Log into your GoDaddy account.

Step 2: Figure out which of your existing domains you want to add privacy on.

Step 3: Renew these domain names for as many years as you'd like. Keep in mind you will need to renew them for at least one more year during a later step to add the privacy. Be sure to apply a promo code before you renew these domains so you can save some money on the first renewal order.
Promo Codes: I used goxtgi200c and it brought the price down to about $6.85 for each domain renewal; however, if this code doesn't work simply use OYH3.
I've been using that promo code for years and it gives a great discount as well. Or check out this forum thread on NamePros that is updated with new codes constantly.

Step 4: Now, choose 5 brand new domain names to purchase (I know .com and .net will work) and add them to your cart.

Step 5: Now that you have 5 brand new domain names in your cart, go back and select the first existing domains that you renewed and that you want privacy added to. Now place these in your cart as well.

Step 6: In your checkout screen there will be a box that allows you to add free domain privacy to not only the 5 brand new domains you first put in your cart but also the rest of your existing domains that you added back into the cart during Step 5. (In my case I added 9 of my existing domain names)
Important Note: You will now receive free privacy on these existing domain names for the entire length of time they have left before their renewal date is up again!!!

Step 7: Before placing your order, apply your GoDaddy promo code once more and save even more money! (i.e. goxtgi200c, OYH3 etc.)

Step 8: Calculate your domain savings and smile.

I didn't create this technique, but I used and worked perfectly. :D

Hey dexter, appreciate your "trick," but could it be because godaddy has that free privacy deal on special right now? I mean, buy a domain for $9.99 and you automatically get free privacy for a year, no matter how many you buy.

I switched over to namecheap a long time ago because they won't yank your domain (like GD does) if there are any complaints about your activities. Not that I have a lot of complaints, but I detest those type of policies, as a rule, anyway.

Namecheap is always a little cheaper than GD, too.

    springer,

to tell you the truth I use GD for a long time and I've never seen this promotion of $9.99/domain an get free private registration. I also google that a lot when I need to buy domains and I never found anything like that.

Maybe you should share the link to the promotion here.

This is an old trick. So old that even godaddy know about it and don't care.
    Why?
Because you register 5 new domains. ;)

    springer,

The promotion in the link you posted doesn't give you the right to add private registration to other domains you have.

The technique I use allow you to add as many private registration to your domains as you want to. For example if you buy 5 domains and you want to add private registration to those 5 domains and 50 others you can, however in the link you posted you just can add private registration to the specific domains you paid $9.99 for it.

why not save yourself the hassle and just put your neighbors address in the registrant information and one of your relatives names? you can do this for ALL your domains then.... LOL

tell them there was a mix up and they maybe getting some mail of yours....

saying that though i never get anything through the mail from GD??

does anybody ever check really the address??? they usually just send you an email so who really gives a f@ck??? :)

Thanks for the tip, ive been getting .coms from Gd at 6.00 a piece through ads(any of your own 7.49 ads)/and self commission, I usually just put old addresses that have mail forwarding rather than bother paying for private, but this sounds like a pretty sweet set up

    Thanks

This is a very good and informative thread.
    Unfortunately, this doesn't work anymore.
I guess GoDaddy figured this one out.

Wish I did this a few months ago.

    :(
