Please advice. Your reply is greatly apreciated.

I have made a purchase at Godaddy with a VCC. I registered the domains name for my IM friend with his contact details.

The billing information of course didn't match because the contact details where his.

Their fraud departmen service contacted me about the billing informtion not being the same as the owner of the vcc.

    Thanks for responding @onlyme.

PS: I'm scared as hell. Do you think this is justified fear ?

Just contact them and say what you have done, as long as the CC is not stolen then you have not broken any laws so you have nothing wrong. Just call them and that will sort it!

Sorry just noticed that you said you used a VCC, you just need to prove that you are an authorised user of the VCC.
To quote this line from the message.....We are attempting to validate this recent purchase activity. Our goal is to reasonably ensure that the owner of the payment method has authorized the purchase(s)...
    Nothing to worry about!

Thanks that is very helpful. Should I also contact the person that sold me the VCC ?

PS: I don't know this guy (IM friend) personally, over the internet. What if his details are fake. Btw there is my ip record with godaddy, doesn't that make me automatically responsible. So I don't know if contacting them would be a good idea, they would then want the passport from my IM friend which I doubt he would provide. Should I contact the person that sold me the VCC?

Sorry for a bit messy response. I am so worried, scared, paranoid. Sorry it's hard to think, not to mention writing.

So it doesn't matter, if the person that sold me the VCC says it's ok - that I'm authorised. Or do I have to do that myself ?

yeah, no worries here, if youre that concerned just ignore it and get a new domain....what I do to get domains, everytime, is go buy a prepaid card, register it online, and then register the domain name in the exact same info. Works like a charm.

dont worry, just contact go daddy. I seriously hope you brought the VCC through a company and not by some bloke giving you a CC number over a PM. If that is what you have done then you will have to let godaddy deal with it and chances are you wont see that money again.
Yuckysmurf is right though, godaddy are a pain in the arse. I always use paypal where I can as you are covered. I dont trust things like VCC and suggest you dont.

Seriously though, you will come across a lot worse problems than this in IM, if a little email from godaddy is scaring you then this really is not the right game for you!!!

What would be a good idea for you next time is to do what I do... go to simon dot com and buy a prepaid Visa card. You can then register that card to your name and address for free and you'll be fine.

As it stands now, godaddy or anyone else can't and has no interest in causing you a problem.

Well that is true. But the fact I reacted like this is because I do not know how godaddy deals with such things. Things like credit card fraud and similar are a serious offence in my country (I'm not in the US). It's mostly bad experiences clashing together from my real life. One of which was surely the fact I got arrested just for being at the wrong place at wrong time, although I was completely innocent. I could explain my story a hundreth times, but I was still guilty from the cop's point of view. Really unpleasent thing to experience. That's basically what I'm afraid of - being guilty of what I haven't done. Once your charged for one offense, being link to another, which you are completely unconnected to, is done in a blink of an eye.

Well I always do something similar. I just didn't do it this time. I will now know I can't afford a mistake like that again.

Are you really sure they can't go after me? I know this isn't at all anything serious, after all I just registered a few domains via VCC and (what I believe is fake )info from my IM friend. But it is how this can presented, that scares me. This is just a gap that could be exploited. Don't really now what to think.

Really apreciate all your responses guys :), I wouldn't mind hearing if you guys had any similiar experiences with this.

    Thank you to all.

So I should replace the payment method. What if I can't do it?

Could I just let it slide, like you guys said before, or contacting them, explaining and changing the payment method are a must ?
