God damn 1&1 sucks!

But the GoDaddy CEO kills elephants. lol, I kid. I have a Window VPS with 1&1. It seems they want to pull me into a lot of pay later deals. I don't really fall for that stuff so I'm not too worried. You just have to know what to look for. Who registers their domains with their host? That just seems like a mixture for disaster. I have always kept those separate.

I stopped using them for different reasons.

However I always found my domains live and ready to go in an hour or so when I did use them.

I have been using 1and1 for about a year now with no problems they do have slow responses but
for 4.99 the first year and just 8.99 the following years am in

I am having so many problems with 1and1 I just had to post here and warn anyone who is considering using their services.

I have a few different domain names with them which I am trying to transfer to another domain registrar but they are refusing to transfer them. They just keep telling me the new registrar hasn't contacted them but obviosuly after several attempts I am presuming they just don't want me to transfer.

I have spent loads of time on the phone to technical support (calling from Ireland so very expensive) and they just are ridiculously slow and seem really stupid. One of the girls I spoke to kept saying "wait till I put you on hold for a little while"...seriously?

I also tried to register a new domain name with them. They added it to my package but it has remained locked and unassessable for the last 3 weeks. 2 weeks ago I asked them why it was taking so long and they sent me an email saying they weren't going to let me purchase any new services from them and I could basically take my business elsewhere?? But they are now not letting me transfer my domains and they still have this new domain locked so I can't purchase it elsewhere?

I have never experienced such rude and frustrating customer service before, they just definitely be added to the sh*t list!

ok rant over back to work!:)

Heard of them but didn't used their service. I'll stick with godaddy.

They are also so slow, domains i have registered elsewhere you can change ns etc straight away with 1&1 you have to wait for up to 72 hours.

I had a lot of problems canceling a domain with 1&1.They tried to send me to a debt collection agency; I only managed to get out of it because I was under 18.

You def. need to read their T&C. All kinds of bullcrap on there. I ordered a domain and a small hosting package with monthly rebiling. I decided to upgrade the hosting and they tried to bill yearly. When I refused they would not revert my hosting package and sent a debt collection company. Told them no way was I paying and to not bother contacting me again. Haven't heard from them again since.
