I'm really wanting to try out a broad authority site and test exactly how much EMD's make a difference in overall SERP. Of course they give a bit of advantage, there's really no denying that but there's no doubt that you can rank for long tail keywords that have no EMD domains or little competition from EMD domains (crappy onsite, offsite SEO).

By broad authority site I mean really broad, we're talking weight loss, insurance, mortgage, real estate etc. I want to find low competition long tail keyword opportunities within a broad category and create literally hundreds of pages of onsite and offsite optimized content that is properly categorized within the site. I can't see how it will be penalized by Google since it's going to be super high quality self written content that is properly researched, searchers will be getting the information they want.

I think if this approach works it will be a god send, i'll be able to manage one site and spend more time writing articles that actually attract visitors and gain you SERP's instead of creating hosting accounts and trying for days to find a keyword with a EMD. Even if this authority site does not, straight off the bat do well, there's no doubt that within a year or a couple of years you will start to see a profit due to the domain name aging and going up in trust with the big G.

So this is where I'm going to post the updates on my progress, I'll post daily about what I have done, how many articles I've written and future plans for the site as well as analytics/adsense reports. The site will be solely monetized by adsense and ALL onsite SEO will be white-hat SOME offsite SEO will be blackhat (if you call scrapebox blackhat).

I am really excited to start this project and even if it does not work out, at least I can gain more valuable experience optimizing SEO content and creating rich, user friendly articles.

    Exact Match Domain:

    Keyword: noobie for us

    Domain name noobieforus*com

SERP = search engine results page

I am starting some authority sites with generic names as well. Actually say Construction would be in the main url then using siloing so:

    Constructionforu*com/Tools/jackhammer
    Constructionforu*com/Vents/Air-venting-supplies.

    Blah blah

    Definitely look at siloing

I'd rather have a couple of authority sites that won't be bumped out with another algorithm update. I think if you create good quality content you should stay at the top.

Just purchased the domain name and setting Wordpress up now.

Definitely sort your categories etc and get a structure going. Not sure, but if I were doing it, I wouldn't want links to a lot of individual pages in the "links menu".

It doesn't look too good in my opinion to be linking air conditioners with douche bags....

Yeah it'll be properly categorized, also each page will have niche specific backlinks, i'll just scrape some with scrapebox and then manual submit. Can't see one page taking any longer then 3 hours TBH.
