    Hi Guys,

This is my first journey here even though I've been lurking here for a while and never bothered to do it until now.

A little background before starting :

I'm a student in international relations ( popcorn time for someone in my field ) in Romania and I'm a french who fled from his beloved country because I was sick of the current mood, the mentality and the boundaries that everyone always put on me.

For now I'm in the 2nd year of the bachelor degree even if I'm 22 I just had a hard time to find something that was sparking my interest and also worked/chilled for some time.

Now my goal is quite simple, in fact I have multiple :

    1. Paying for my mother's wedding, both of my parents are quite busy and she is always working without taking care of her own person, she did everything and still does to give us a good life and now it's time to pay back.
2.Being financially independent, actually I'm independent already but my income is mostly from the state who provide me some money to do my studies.
    3.Launching my company.

    My plan :

Since study doesn't take me much time and IM/SEO/Marketing/etc... is one of my hobby I decided that I would open a company in France which should be set up on the 1st of April, I will work here remotely and try to do as much money on the long term as possible.

I will also experiment on some other projects like PPC etc just for fun and to gain a little bit of knowledge and why not some nice additionnal income but the company is my main focus.

Currently my income looks like this

French state financial aid : 472 euros/mo ( sorry folks I'm an European I like euros and not dollars )
Romanian state financial aid : 75 euros/mo It's cool to score the top of the leaderboard haha
Personnal savings that I had to study abroad : 250 euros/mo ( this is actually my rent + utilities + some other stuff )
French classes at the university : 50 euros/mo not that much but I get access to a lot of useful stuff and more important contacts and it is only 2hours per week where I should normally be in another course so...
French classes over the internet : 150 euros/mo only 2 hours per week but this guy turn out to be my first client for my company.
Random income from IM : between 150 to 600 euros not steady income but always nice to fund my knack for sneakers

And that's it for the first post, not to many details but I will follow up, I mainly created this thread as a milestone for me and to push myself to document and put the amount of work needed to succeed.

I will post soon my adventures into this scary thing that is the internet.

Oh and I printed this and placed it next to my screen to remind me the direction I should not go.

    A little update for today

I bought two domain name at namecheap since I don't like godaddy even if I can get coupons. I prepared a landing page with an email opt-in until the site is ready, I'm still wondering if I should go with a wordpress or do a site in HTML.

I set up the social media profiles and created an account on crazyegg I will use the heatmaps to know the behavior of my visitors.

I also need to find out a website that test the usability.

I created a phone number through VOIP at sonetel.com, I did this so potential clients can call me and give them more trust before buying.

I also did some competitors analysis, the prices, timeframe for the services, etc.. I contacted some of them as a client to see how they behave. The backlink profiles will give me some insight about how they rank and some ideas of promotions.

I'd love to participate on this forum a lot more, just hurts my eyes reading cause of the black background. I change the theme to the gray, but it's a hassling having to do it every time. I definitely will do my best to be around a lot more. :) Let me know if you need anything or have any questions. Shit are AMA's allowed? If so, maybe in the future.

If proposed so nicely I will :D AMA are probably allowed better ask a mod about that but I've never seen AMA's here so...As long as it is benefiting the community it won't be a problem

I won't do an AMA then. People will eventually figure out I'm also a MOD at BHU, so I don't want to cause any tensions or problems. I'll just stick to helping people out and answering marketing questions whenever I can.

YAY! Today I got some $$$

My first client ( the german guy ) came to see me on skype and paid me 100$ to set up a wordpress + doing some SEO that's a good thing he will also bring me some colleagues of his that need some jobs to be done so potentially I have 4 clients thanks to him.

I sended an email to the others since I had 3 people that were statisfied when I worked for them a while back I will see if they respond.

I finished to set up all social media account with images, interlinking blah blah, I'm thinking into going on Odesk and Elance and register as my company to get more leads.

Now a little bit about my clients outreaching, I set up a google alerts and went on some forums to promote the site. Basically whenever someone search for a solution to his problem I should be able to see and lure him to my company.

Since I happen to live in Romania and a lot of business have a website etc... I will pay one my classmates to go and see some of them, I speak a fairly good romanian yet I think it is better if they have a native in front of them, some freebies will be given if they want to work with me ( romanian mentality is all about what can I take from you.. )

Concerning the website I will go with wordpress at first, the HTML will take a little bit longer so I went and purchased a responsive ( we are 2014 guys ) template.

Oh and for those who don't have that much $$ to work with and are in need of a good and reliable hosting you should go and check Uberspace. A bit of a hassle to pay ( only wire ) but the support is incredible and you pay only what you want as long as it is between 1e and XX. I pay them 8 just because they are great to me every fucking time I learned a lot just in customer support just by being with them.

Just another quick update for today!

From the 3 clients I emailed 2 responded, 1 for now is interested and the said no for the second simply because I didn't remember how much of a pain in the ass she was. Her definition is SEO = SPAM SPAM SPAM LINKS SO I GET 1ST!

She owns a local website for some locations with PO box etc... yet I tried to explain to her again that she doesn't need links but rather some local seo, answer was no BUILD LINKS.

Might be stupid on my side for some of you but saying NO to her is a big decision for me, first of all I will get interesting clients, I keep my reputation clean ( website is not up yet ) and I don't have to negotiate for BS stuff.

I will upload soon my landing page ( the email opt-in ) I know there is a lot of them available and mine isn't probably the best ever created but it might be useful to some of you.
