This isn't a loser/clown inspired anti-Google thread, first off. What it is is that, for the first time, I've really checked out DuckDuckGo as a search engine: http://duckduckgo.com/.

I must say, I'm very impressed. I spent about 6 hours (total) on this engine searching and have gotten objectively superior results to what Google now offers post-Penguin.

The SERPS for this engine appear to be dynamic, as opposed to statically link-based like Google (much like Bing, actually: based on the aggregate of what people are searching for at any given moment). While similar to Bing, for a reason I know not what, I like DuckDuckGo better.

I like this search engine on principle; and, for its results: I'm not tracked in any way, and yet I get relevant answers to my queries. I need not search beyond the first 10 results to get my question answered (in the event that I am asking a question); and, I need not go beyond the first 10 results (unless I choose to for further elaboration) to get well-sourced information.

I am excited about DuckDuckGo on a lot of different levels, not the least of which is my penchant for rooting for the underdog that has a really good - and inovative - idea.

    Check out DuckDuckGo. :)

I found out a few days ago that duckduckgo ranks my "pet" site #1 or #2 for a bunch of keywords. Usually I rank #2 up to 7# on bigG. Unfortunately, that gives me less than 1% of bigG's traffic.

Certainly, these guys have a long way ahead. :) Popular queries are less interesting when you truly need to find something, its the long tail that make the difference. :)

Well, sure; but it's certainly not a streatch of the imagination to envision people saying, "Hey, 'GO' that". People tend to self-abbreviate when a service/product offers something they want - this is the foundaton from which all memes develop.

I've always associated duckduckgo with Tor. Those 'underground' weirdos seem to love it.

Funny you should say, actually. That Google is a retard's alternative to AltaVista was a common criticism to Google and the very notion that dominate market entity can be replaced was the most common criticism to practical innovation, back in the day.

Such a shame that most people don't realize the gargantuan amount of power they have over the God 'Economy'.....

    C'est la vie, I suppose.

Not sure why people start these kind of threads, deep down, we all know Google is king, even though there are many changes with it :)

They start it because deep down they all know that Google is a queen, and that the king is yet to be found. :) Seriously, Google doesn't deliver on many occasions.

Hah, anyone notice amazon search results within organic search results?

All amazon product links, they throw their affiliate id in.
