GMB ranking is not improving

Have name, type, address, phone number, etc set up with Rank Math SEO WP plugin. Under local section. Pretty sure that’s what you’re referring to?
Correct. I'm going to message you. I stumbled upon something that might help.

I started working with a client about 1.5 months ago doing local SEO for the GMB and Website. The niche is Home Remodeling and he is in a competitive city.

The GMB is all filled out, NAP citations made submitted with Semrush, Web2 backlinks built with citations included, running 1 review per day, products are locations optimized linking to location pages, daily posts linking to website. The primary category is General Contractor same as competitors that are ranking and 2 secondary categories are kitchen remodeler, bathroom remodeler.

My local rankings have been stagnating, picture below of mine vs competitors. By the way main competitors name is "... home remodeling" and the heat map is ran for "home remodeling" query. That could be why he is ranking so well.

Most competitors in the SERPS have at least 40-50 reviews and we have 10-20. Could that be why? Maybe just give it more time? Any advice is appreciated!

PS @SOCOM @coolsheet @Holzr would appreciate your guys feedback. You seem like experts in this niche.

Keyword in the GBP name is still a huge ranking factor, unfortunately.

Reviews don't mean as much as they used to. Google got wise to it. They're like backlinks to the GBP now. You'd need a ton of purchased or fake reviews to carry the same weight as just a couple real reviews.

CTR and GBP interactions are more important than reviews now.

What time are you searching? A year or two ago Google started factoring in open hours in ranking, and then turned it way up this summer.

Do you have all cities and services listed in the GBP?

If you want to rank for something like "home remodeler near me" (which is a niche we work in), you have to make a page called "home remodeler in (city)" for each city you want to rank in. "bathroom remodeler" and "kitchen remodeler" is usually on a different vector so you'd probably need to create pages for those too.

Make sure you're writing for the service vector as well as the geo vector.

For ranking in Baltimore, you're going to need more than just Web 2.0s. Make sure you're getting niche edits and real guest posts, not PBNs disguised as guest posts.

Listing services as products is risky, Google turns that on and off as a negative signal. We stopped doing it completely.

GBP posts are much less effective than they used to be, and will be mostly useless once the GBP sites go away. There are other areas you should be focusing your time and energy on.

For citations, don't just rely on SEMRush. That's just Yext. You'd need to drip them out monthly. Remember those are links too.

Great insights thanks.

This is how the website linked to the GBP looks like. Main page is optimized for the brand. H1 is brand name. H2, H3, H4 is "how to hire Brand", etc.
The pages are like this. website.com/home-remodeling/home-remodeling-area
Same thing for kitchen remodeling and bathroom remodeling.
Have all of these linked to products and product categories.

I have all of my clients open on the weekends and rankings jump up nicely every weekend cause of that.

In terms of review and interactions I have noticed that reviews don't hold as much weight. Bought a monthly GBP CTR campaign from Chris Palmer for one of my clients. Will see how it goes.

Will run some scripts to see what links competitors are using and will build those out. Anything else I'm missing?

Are you covering the topics completely? You need the service vector as well as the geo vector.

Doubling up on keywords in the URL is risky.

Google doesn't give anything past H3 any extra weight.

Are you offering new, unique, or helpful content on your landing pages? If you're just rewriting the same stuff that's on the first page of the SERPs, why would Google have any reason to trust or rank your entity? What would make you different from the competition?

Are you building out the entity of the business, as well as the people behind the business like owners and such?

It will take forever to explain in here. I can send you the business directly in DMs on discord and I'll show you exactly what I mean. Discord: squadbee

Ok. Sent discord friend request. Not sure how to message any other way.
