Thought someone here might be able to help me out.

Recently got a voice mail from a contact on my GMAIL account and I can't figure out how, as I never give out my personal number. The only possible way they would have got it is if it's displayed within GMAIL somehow. As well, I did have my email account send to the same phone at one point, and I can't remember if that's the phone number I used to verify my account. But I thought GMAIL was supposed to be secure?
If this isn't something I can fix then I am going to have to consider switching, I'd rather not have my personal phone number that easily accessible.

Pretty quick to point the blame on Gmail there. How do you know the person didn't search for your number?
I am very confident that if you just used Gmail for sending the mail (no sms/email gateway), then they found your number through another method.

Last, instead of pointing the blame without having facts, why not just ask that contact how he/she got your number.

The only things I can think of is, when it synched my phone and I emailed them from my phone, it may have been displayed the same way you can look up IPs from some email providers, but I'm not sure.

And it is my cell phone, it's not listed anywhere. I have never put it online, except for the two methods I listed in my first post.

I am quick to blame Gmail because I know this is the only way they could have got it.

I tried asking them but the email did not go through, so I have to wait til they contact me. They did not leave their phone number.

Does something like Spokeo reveal numbers associated with email accounts?

You're allowing them to show phone number in any of google service like G+ or profiles or some another public service from google ? even if by mistake then chances are there that they're using it. maybe they could also use verification phone number for the same, it's hard to find out without much digging.

My email says my profile is not set up, and I looked through and didn't see my number anywhere.. And I've never used Google+ before so, would it do that without me setting it up?
