During my recent keyword searches I started to play around with Google Trends and looked at websites in UK, Singapore and Thailand. Apparently the CPC is higher in other countries. This got me thinking, "Self, If I'm going to work my ass off to rank well in the US and get less money, why not just target other countries too."

    I'd appreciate input for the following questions;

    1) Are they same SEO techniques applicable in other countries or are there certain things that work best in a specific country?
    2) Besides this forum, are they are any other reputable resources I can use or buy to learn how to target specific countries?
    3) Is there any other tool available besides Google Insights that can show me the most popular search terms.
    4) Is there much difference in ranking using a .Com domain vs. the CC TLD?

    Thanks.

Be careful with ppc accounts in Thailand, mine were wasted on people clicking but no buyers.
I know a fair few thais and none of them have a credit card, let alone buy stuff online.

    Sinbgapore would be heaps different

Thanks for the input. As this juncture, i have no interest in doing any PPC until I think I need it to compliment my organic traffic.

Keep in mind that search volume is likely lower in those countries though. Might still be worth it if CPC is higher and competition is low though

    * Search volume will be lower
    * Number of buyers will be dramatically lower in some countries
    * Fewer people will have credit cards
    * Shortage of CPA offers for non-US countries
    * There are plenty of keyword.tld domains available for other countries that provide an easy route to the top of the serps for that country
    * You may have to host your domains in that country for the best results
    * SEO is otherwise the same although backlinks from other regional domains and local directories is a definite bonus
    * Keyword research is much more difficult in non english languages
    * Competition is virtually non existent or basically incompetent

i think there are tons of countries , with keywords very very less competitive and CPC are as high as $5 maybe more.

The only problem i feel with countries other than US and Uk is people dont prefer to buy stuff online eveni f they have a creditr cards.

But i think running adsence websites with them could be very profitable specially if you are trying to dominate the market niche as there will be very less competition.

But PPC for most developing countries is definitely big no.
Maybe free cpa stuff , but even i dont have good experience with free cpas..

    Ie.
In India , irctc.co.in received more than 1 million hits per day and most indians search for indian railways , so guy named X created a domain for exact search and ranked in google ,and surprisingly :D it outranks the original site.

All he has put in is genuine content and lots of adsence ....Still wondering how much is he making....

Thanks for the information everyone. I have decided to just focus on the US/UK for the time being until I get enough experience and knowledge.

I think I might be searching the wrong term, I wanted to see proof of this but I'm not seeing any other site other than .gov sites show up top 5 for "indian railways" or was this a made up example? I just wanted to see this in action

Which also brings up a question I have, if you have the option for a .com vs a cTLD which would be better to put the site on? Do you think it would matter that much in seo?

Perhaps it might be better to get both to play it safe? If you come across any cheap places to get UK domains I'd appreciate you letting me know.
