The higher percentage route is to make the free ebook available only for those who fill out an optin form, to become part of your email list. Then follow up with them with messages about your related affiliate links or products.

Free e-books are the best for building e-mails databases.

If a lot of people read the report with you aff links, you will make money. The key is to get enough people to actually read it.

Also make sure you're building your list in the process. While you're at it, have a self liquidated offer send to the optins right away with an upgrade offer. In this case since you're giving away a free PDF report, offer a video or audio series that goes over the main points of the report as the upgrade.

You're really going to have to learn how to market the ebook, first... it's a little tricky.
It becomes much easier to get the word out if it's free, people love free stuff.

Don't put affiliate links in the end... put it before, in the middle, and at the end of everything. Recommend other books, services, software, anything you can think of.

I'm not sure that just putting the affiliate link at the end would really be the smartest way of promoting it. Truth is, as good as the guide may be some people are not going to get that far. I'd have links strung out throughout the guide and I also agree on the above point of using the guide as a way to create an opt-in mail list which you can then use to push your affiliates.

The best approach will be to present a problem in the ebook
and then highlight your affiliate product/service as the solution.
I also support the idea of putting the link throughout the book,
you never know which page someone will start/stop reading.

Dude, I thought you were gonna have someone write a kick ass guide?
For $50 bucks you'll get anything but kick ass quality.

If you really want to do this, try to get at the bare minimum 4 times that amount to get some decent writer to come up with an average report.

yes i agree with this, if you plan to pay $50, you might as well write it yourself for free and burn all your budget on marketing.. Or you could offer some free snippets in a short ebook (like a preview), and then get someone to write a awesome one and sell the full ebook for like $5-10

It's not just a matter of putting out a free ebook and getting people to read it. You may get a lot of downloads, but a great number of people won't even open the file after they download it. See, when you give something away, even if it's kickass, people already have it in their minds that they won't get anything out of it. You have to overcome this by putting it out there in a way that won't seem like it's useless information.

A good start is to spend a decent amount on having it created, get some good testimonials from some friends or people here on BHW, then go from there.

    Good luck!

Every single money making ebook that I bought has failed me, I guess the niche is to sell these books.

It might be a good idea to post a thread about this. That way you can get some advice that's specific to you while not detracting from someone else's thread. Feel free to PM me if you have any specific questions. Good luck, and go make a thread about what methods you have tried and what action you have taken. People will help you if you are willing to help yourself.

I've used this, worked very well. Got over a thousand downloads and plenty of sign ups.
