Of course.
I did a test with some of my sites - on average 20% of all my backlinks were not indexed by Google, thus not counting.
After using this type of indexation, that number dropped down to 0.5% and got some really nice rank increase shortly after.
I repeat with what I said in the OP - a backlink not indexed is a backlink wasted.
