Hey guys, looking for ideas on how to develop a cloaking script.

The purpose of the script is to show "Person A" this page1 and "Person B" this page2.

So far the only thing i can think of is using a IP database, and showing ppl that are in the database(personB) page2 and if they are not in the database show page1

Any other methods you can think of that would make it even harder for a nosy person to get to page1?

You could check those params too:
    - UserAgent
    - Referral link
    - OS

You can do it by filtering ip range, by country or by browsers. You can work with the referrer if you know where PersonA and PersonB come from.
You have to define what makes these 2 visitors different and then filter them.
If the only difference is the IP, you're on the right track but if PersonA and/or PersonB have a dynamic IP you're screwed up

Google bots have their own useragent, so you can just check the UA and display a different page if it's G or a visitor.

A lot of the time googlebots will spoof their referer to firefox or IE. They arn't dumb and know people would be easily able to cloak their pages extremely easily otherwise. By IP address is the only way to do it reliably. (Or perhaps though some fancy javascript-kung-fu.

Well, through whatever IP Gbot visits, it will use same useragent.

So using a simple php if case I think we can use that.

    Correct me if wrong.

@blanko, I would like to help you in creating such a script :) PM me if interested :D

Hi, the only safe way is to check the IP address of the incoming visitor against a list of known bot ip addresses.

User Agent cloaking is too easy to forge, there are even plugins for firefox that allow people to change their useragent.

I have been cloaking for a long time and it you just rely on the User Agent you *will* get your sites banned.

Fantomaster supplies an IP database (Although it's not always up to date) but it will be better then User Agent Cloaking.

    Regards
