how safe are these to live in...
Cement is a very bad material in terms of health so you probably want your house to have a lot of bricks instead of a full cement build. The other thing is that I didn't see it use any iron bars. No iron bars means bad stability and you don't want that in say, California
They use mix of cement and mainly recycled materials and I am pretty sure cement is safe when it has dried out. And I do not think that they are aiming for America, but the other continents.
Look into it, you 'll be surprised
If they perfect this, imagine the possibilities. No one will be homeless.
cement by itself is weak but include metal bars = super strong
pretty cool. I wonder what the air quality is like though since the house is made out of pure synthetic plastics?
only $5,000. for a house!
wanna bet the gov. won't try to stop this...
without iron bars they are dead with the slightest earthquack. so their machine should have a robotic arm that adds an iron bar in each stage!
Not only is cement bad for your health it's extremely bad for the environment.
I don't really think they give much of a shit about the environment in China. Soon to be selling canned air...
isn't that what they did in "spaceballs"?
I have been following 3d printing for several years, especially that of housing and internal organs.
I did not realize that 3d home printing had become so fast. Otherwise the article the op quotes in which Ma Yihe claims to be the inventor of the technology is false.
I'm pretty sure this will be perfected in the next 10 years, and there will be no more "Made In China". They will kill their own market with the whole 3D Printing technology. Everyone will print themselfs everything they need. Whole market niches will dissapear - Lego, Plastic toys, Plastic jewlery, Plastic bags, Plastic glasses, phone accessories and many many more.
Why is that?
Yea, but c'mon! This is a step in a very interesting direction! I'm sure they'll work out the kinks along the way.
I think you mean the cement which is mixed with asbestos
asbestos is banned in most of developed countries and its getting banned in un-developed countries as well
but I doubt china care about its negative effect that cause cancer
Expect technology, I don't like anything else coming from China.
I guess you better like a stucco finish on your walls. Interesting but the technology will only get better.
First I just want to correct everyone on the proper terminology, it's Concrete and not cement. Cement is a powder and just an ingredient that makes the concrete. Just had to say it.
Also, I seen that the Concrete is reinforced with Fiber mesh, so that add's to it's strength. Rebar is not always needed, but is indeed a way better reinforcement when building concrete walls.
